Across the brutal killing fields of Afghanistan, an operation is under way to prevent a Taliban massacre. In the middle of the battle, US Navy SEAL Lieutenant Kyle Nolan uncovers a threat that could tear the nation apart. A powerful cleric named Mullah Tarzi has vowed to lead the Taliban in a new war. His plan is to dispatch his fighters and suicide bombers countrywide to reignite the country in a brutal conflict. Only when he has stained the Afghan soil with blood can he feel he has earned the title he craves. The undisputed leader of Afghanistan. The Caliph and Dictator of a ruined and broken land. Nolan's mission commander is a hardass SOCOM officer, Brigadier General Vasquez. His orders are to ignore Tarzi and locate a Taliban warband who are advancing through the region. Find them, and light them up with a Laser Target Designator for a drone strike. Yet something is wrong, the warband appears to be about to switch their allegiance to Kabul. In spite of this, SOCOM is determined to shoot first, even if it means the destruction of a potential ally. Vasquez is about to make a big mistake, and confuse body count with victory. Under fire from all sides, the operation becomes a race against time to prove who is a friend and who is an enemy. Before the Hellfires begin to rain down on friend and foe alike, and the country descends into a civil war that may never end. This is a thrilling story of US Navy SEALs, under pressure from both the enemy and their own side. Seal Team Bravo Black Ops: Spear of ISIS is by the bestselling author of many other Spec Ops stories. These include the popular SEAL Team Bravo titles, the Raider series, as well as Echo Six and the Devil's Guard series.

Kyle Nolan visiting his kids at the home of Carol Summers in San Diego. Lord knows he doesn't get to see much of his kids and thank God Carol took a shine to them both. They spend a lot of time with Carol as well as Nolan's in laws. Nolan never knows where he's going to be at any given time so he's glad his kids have stability.Kyle also meets Carols current boyfriend. A Major in the Navy MP's. He's a guy with attitude and a hard on for Nolan. Nolan just knows he will be seeing this idiot again. On arrival at Coranado Nolan meets with his boss. Admiral Jacks. Jacks needs a four man fire team. Kyle, Will Bryce, John-Wesley Ryder and Vince Merano a sniper extraordinaire will round out Nolan's team.Jacks need Nolan and his team on a quick in and out in Afghanistan. Seems the Taliban have been ambushing the Afghan forces on the road to Kandahar. Nolan's mission is to find the ambushers and eliminate them. As always nothing is simple and this one turns out to be far from and in and out.So begins another fine read by Meyer. This one has Nolan, Bryce, Ryder, Morano, a problem Ryder has that Nolan and the boys will try to rectify when they get home, a Dr. Jalal and his fiancé Layla a nurse, a Nolan who really isn't 100% for this mission as his previous wound isn't completely healed, a Nolan who is again wounded in that same shoulder, Layla who takes over his care, a group of Taliban who want to desert the Taliban and have some serious info for the Afghan Govt. and the American Allies, their leader Omar Latif, a Mullah who wants to be the top Mullah for the Taliban, a Mullah who treats everyone like dirt and his wives like slaves, a General Vasquez who wants the Taliban Nolan and his team are trailing killed, a General who won't listen to reason, a General who doesn't want to hear that the people Nolan is trailing want to give up, a General who replaces Nolan with Bryce as leader, a Bryce who's the new leader, a Bryce who of course still takes orders from Kyle, a fight on a mountain track, a Kyle who finally gets the surrendering Taliban into the city, a General who has them and Nolan arrested, a General who has his own agenda and Lt. Kyle Nolan and his fireteam doing their best to save lives, defeat their enemies and stay alive.Five Stars yet again.

Definitely worth investing in the entire series if you love military style action books By Maisen I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend who knew of my love for all things Military. Little did I know that my productivity would screech to a halt until I finished this book. Calling the book, a page turner would be putting it mildly. It is captivating, I just couldn’t put it down until I got to the end. I felt that I was right there in the action with my heart and mind completely absorbed in the narrative of each scenario. It was such a terrifically structured book with all the main characters having strong back stories and exciting developments throughout the book. I could immediately tell that Eric is an operator from his writing style. The book is written in an economic and matter of fact style but still has a casual feel that draws you into the story. The level of detail discussed concerning the equipment and operational strategy & tactics are issues experienced first hand by the author and not based on academic research or third party information. Yes there are some tragic moments for Nolan and his team but those are they things that make the story visceral and real. To sum up Eric has done a fantastic job with this book and it seems like I'll have to go back and get caught up on the rest of the series.
