The New York Times bestselling author of On Dublin Street returns to the bar where it all began with Braden and Joss for a white-hot new novella full of passion and drama. When he’s not working at the club, Craig Lanaghan looks out for his mother and little sisters. So when it comes to women, all he wants is a good time. But once Rain Alexander walks into his life, there’s no denying that this woman could be worth much more than a one-night stand…. Rain’s lifelong regret is having left her sister Darcy alone years ago with a guardian who turned out to be abusive. So when Darcy’s boyfriend publicly humiliates her in a cruel way, Rain’s overprotective instincts kick in and she follows him to Club 39—where she meets a guy who just might be her perfect match. The chemistry between Rain and Craig is explosive, but Rain is out for revenge, and refuses to be sidetracked by flirtation. As things between them heat up, she’ll have to make a heartbreaking choice between giving in to the man of her dreams or putting her sister’s happiness first…. Praise for the On Dublin Street series “Really sexy.”—USA Today “Young writes stories that stay with you long after you flip that last page.”—Under the Covers

I was expecting much more for Craig but ended up being quite disappointed in his happily ever after.” ~ Under the Covers By Under The Covers Book Blog Reviewed by Annie and posted at Under The Covers Book BlogONE KING’S WAY is one of those instances where you need to know when to stop. After the last book in the series, that was supposed to be the end of the series. However, Samantha Young has released this novella featuring Craig, a character that we’ve been before. If I’m going to be totally honest with you, I didn’t like this novella. At all.Craig is portrayed as the flirt. As a bartender, he gets a lot of attention with the ladies. However, I found that Craig’s attempt at flirting seemed to be shut down by the heroine every single time. So readers don’t get that fun, flirty nature that we’re expecting from Craig. The real problem in this story is the heroine, Rain. Rain Alexander has a major chip on her shoulder. She has a lot of anger pent up and she wants to channel that into gaining revenge. This entire plot seemed petty and stupid, putting Rain in a very unfavorable light. So much so that I wondered countless times what Craig found appealing about her character. She’s so emotionally manipulative that I lost interest very quickly. Young doesn’t really do anything to redeem her either.I found that the resolution was swift and not very believable, pushing things to the side rather than really dealing with the problem. I was expecting much more for Craig but ended up being quite disappointed in his happily ever after. I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be skipping on this author’s next releases.

This story lacked the beauty, depth, drama, and believably of previous ODS books. Honestly, I think Young should have left the series at Moonlight on on Nightinggale Way...that story was utterly beautiful. But she gave us Craig and Rain and they were just okay. Craig was sexy and flirty bartender, but we rarely got to see that side. Rain was a 40s pinup-looking type and that fact was hammered in over and over again. The steamy scenes were HOT HOT HOT though...as per the usual Young style. She just excels at smexy scenes. And there were times that I felt my emotions riding the waves of the characters...so there were definite Young emotions in there. But aside from those two facts, it just wasn't that interesting of a read.I wish the drama that surrounded Rain's sister, Darcy, would have been Rain's story. That was really tragic and original and unlike anything I'd ever read before. Instead she was just a protective big sister with a rough upbringing that we didn't get much info on.The whole "romantic" vs "realist" was okay...but kind of over done. The last drama in the book annoyed me. I think Craig should have (and would have) reacted differently. His character proved that he was passionate, but he just sort of let it all happen. (sorry...don't want to include spoilers)I'm not sure I'm thrilled with the ending all together really.I'll still read more of Young's books. I'm a fan for life, but this story was lacking. Can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

By Jessica Sotelo (Angie & Jessica's Dreamy Reads) 3.5 STARSWhile I definitely enjoyed this quick, steamy novella, and I definitely appreciate anytime one of my favorite authors gives me just a little bit more of a series I absolutely adore, this installment didn't quite measure up to the full length novels that came before it. I really loved Craig, a character who was obviously unappreciated and overlooked up to this point. The sexy noncommittal bartender drew me in right out of the gate. Rain, too, was quite captivating. The eccentric, overly-emotional romantic is unlike any of Samantha Young's other leading ladies. The chemistry was evident, the story was unpredictable, sexy and fun. I just think this novella's length prevented the author from being able to really dig deep and execute an emotionally layered plot as she typically does. I felt their attraction, I enjoyed their original, refreshingly different storyline but it just doesn't compare to the epic, unforgettable, earth-shattering romances between Joss and Braden, Jo and Cam, Ellie and Adam, etc. The drama felt a little contrived, but One King's Way is still a cute extra. It was steamy and a bit angsty. It was an enjoyable, quick read and a nice treat after thinking I'd seen the last of this story!
