They wanted a honest review...so here we go!Wow! This book blew me out of the water. I started reading and reading and kept thinking this man is horrible. What a "insert a explicative ". A stalker, a manipulator, everything is all about Matthew. I wanted to reach into my kindle and female dog slap him. With that said I thought if a character in a read can bring out feelings like that, this is going to be a good read. I have to say, Matthew did not let me down.Kayla on the other hand....so naïve. So full of dreams for a new future in her new job. So not ready for the dog eat dog of Washington DC. I kind of felt sorry for her. She didn't realize the man she just had sex with was going to "take her world by Storm".A must read. I give it a 5.0 plus because it kept me tapping the kindle page after page. The story was fresh and new. Characters were loveable and hateable (is that a word?). I was thoroughly entertained. I have read all of Ms. Brooks books and this one is by far the best. Grab this book. Read it. Enjoy it as much as I.Okay. The bad part. This is a series which means I have to WAIT to see what happens next. So, as I type this review I am hoping Sarah J. Brooks is doing the same with part 2.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Political science ????? NOT!! By Margari Not into the political aspect of the book. The sexual encounters are steamy but need more build up. There were also some errors where she referred Kayla was wearing a skirt and then referenced pants. I'm very detail oriented and noticed it right away. I need to read more of the story but honestly after reading this first part it a doesn't leave much anticipation for wanting to read the following book.

This story starts out with political and Aid I'm not into to politics at all but I am now!! Mathew Storm, knows what its like to be in the spot light of camera and bad press. So when he see Michaela in a bar he knows he needs to stay away. "Kayla" who normally don't party cause she has her head in books getting top grades has to much to drink!! Who don't celebrate with friends when you land you dream job!! The chemistry between these two is ready to explode. Lovin this new series so far and can't wait to read the next.

Good Plot but Weak Writing & Poor Formatting Makes Library of Forbidden Books a Difficult Read By Bill Anderson This fictional novel is targeted people to people who enjoy technothrillers.What was the Amazon Rank on the date this review was published? 4,092.Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first? This is the eighth in the series, but it is okay as a stand alone.I also am grateful that the writer did not end with a cliffhanger.Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures? Typos are infrequent but the editing for layout and readability needs improvement.Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read? The Library of Forbidden Books is a story for leisure reading.What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made? UK Adult English. This is one of those rare works that includes more f-bombs (48 to be precise) than the combined total of other foul language (40 by my count).My biggest pleasure or disappointment was? The paragraph formatting created great difficulty in reading. Second on the list was that the writer tells us everything, rather than let us see it through the characters observations, thoughts and deeds. I tried to provide an excerpt so the formatting issue could be displayed, but Amazon would not permit inclusion in the format I wished to provide.Bottom Line:The writing is okay. If the writer adopted the ‘Show, don’t tell’ method, it would be easier to identify with the characters, but otherwise, the writing is okay. It is the paragraph formatting that causes a great deal of confusion as I try reading this.Because the paragraph formatting omits indenting and does not provide a space above or below each new paragraph, reading this story is laborious. Therefore, while I would love to rate it 2.5, Amazon provides no such alternative. Therefore, it gets three stars.At any rate, this is not bad story. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Great book almost ruined by strained writing style! By Doc I have read all 8 books in this series, always giving 5 stars. Here we have a 5 star book based on a solid plot, well defined characters and extensive action, ruined by 2-3 star descriptive writing. Not until the 59% mark did he use an acceptable descriptor saying "low light" instead of "abysmally obscure obfuscation" which his descriptors were like throughout the book. He uses "behavioral exhibition" when he means "body language" and phrases like "the atmosphere screamed with intent and challenge.". What the hell do phrases like that even mean? He wrote an author note dispelling he is trying to be Douglas and Child, so props for that. But, PW, go back to the writing style you used so successfully in the first seven books!

The plot was fast paced, the characters were complex, and the dialogue was riveting. I could not believe that I had waited so long to read this novel. I am recommending this to anyone who loves a good book.

I have always loved the friends to lovers stories and this was a very good story in the field. I really liked their story and how once they saw each other again it did not take them long to let each other know they wanted a relationship. Nice story.

Unlike so many romances where the characters just jump in between the sheets this one had a lot of emotional build up as the romance between Tynice and Adrian progressed through the story. The story starts off when they're both teenagers and they both got some issues going on thats for sure. It then moves to when theyre adults, and it flips back and forth at times to show how their relationship grew. I really like love stories told over time and this one had it down for sure. Love scenes were good and the banter between Tynice and Adrian was very good as well. Overall a good book that I would recommend to friends.

The friendship they had as teenagers helped them both lean on each other during the rough times with family members. They both made their dreams come true and then reconnected and decided to see where their feelings lead. The storyline keeps you wanting to see what happens next. I'll read more from this author

It gives you a feel of coming home a way. In this book, you get a glimpse into the past of Joseph the Black, the white queen and the rest of the twelve blacks. If you don't recognize those names, check out the authors books and read Joseph's story, the fiercest dragon warrior finds a were hedgehog for a mate ands so hilariously funny. One of my favourite books written by this author.Back to this book though. It's basically a story of redemption and finding your decision deepest dreams coming true when your at your lowest. River is the child of an affair so her parents never married. That didn't stop her from working at and eventually running his company. After his death she discovered that to save her inheritance that gives her control of the company, she must marry within 30 days. If she doesn't, her mean (replace mean with the word that rhymes with witch) half sisters get the inheritance and the company. In an act of desperation, River turns to her old friend, who happens to run a mating agency, to find her the most undesirable shifter available for a one year marriage of convenience. River wanted to annoy her family as well as secure her inheritance. In comes Taron, a disgraced exiled dragon who desperately needed a job and a place romance live. Throw in dose of fate and you have a love story with a very happy ending for two no longer desperate people.

River is looking for a husband to marry her in the next 30 days or she will loose her controlling stock in the company business. River was born out of wedlock and her half siblings have never let her forget it. The will do anything they can to make sure that River is kicked out of the family fortune for good. So what is River to do to make sure this happens quickly call upon her old friend Mari. In her mind Mari may mate up shifters with their true match but that doesn't have to be the case for River she just needs someone strong enough to stand up to her family and agree to be married to her for 1 year. She is willing to pay this man to ensure that her step siblings can't take what is rightfully hers away from hers.Taron is a disgraced dragon. Since being thrown out of his pack he has tried to make it on his own but it is a problem especially with so many people still having problems with shifters and not allowing them to work. Taron is barely getting by and when Maddox calls him about a job he is completely broke and not knowing where his next meal will come from or where he will lay his head down that night. When Maddox explains what type of job this is he knows he has tricked Taron slightly but knows the money will be good for him. Taron isn't sure if he wants to do this or not because his pride is telling him not to but Taron knows pride won't feed him or help him find a place to live.This is another short story in this series. It is amazing to read about two broken people who come together and may have just found something to last forever. Each of them have their reasons for going into this arrangement but once they agree there is no turning back. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I wish it was a little longer, solely because I enjoyed it so much. Taron and River are the best characters! I really hope that there will be an update with them in the future.

The dynamics of the characters is great. I felt it all. The betrayal. The lust. Hot!! I cant wait to dive in for more.

About the Author

Max Allan Collins has earned a record twenty-one Private Eye Writers of America Shamus Award nominations, winning for his Nathan Heller novels True Detective and Stolen Away, and has received the PWA lifetime achievement award, the Eye. His graphic novel, Road to Perdition, the basis for the Academy Award–winning film starring Tom Hanks, was followed by Road to Purgatory and Road to Paradise. 13 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Love this latest Rogers and Reeder book! By Lisa W This is the second in the series featuring Reeder and Rogers (Supreme Justice being the first.) I loved Supreme Justice, but Fate of the Union is even better. Couldn’t put it down until the end, and wanted to keep reading! Reeder and Rogers reunite to investigate a series of seemingly unrelated murders, from suspected suicides to professional-styled hits and unrelated victims. Fast paced twists and turns lead you through the investigations, culminating in an edge of your seat finale. You don’t have to read Supreme Justice first; Fate of the Union is complete in and of itself. But why wouldn’t you want to read the rest of the series?

By Bill Anderson Fate of the UnionLength: Print, 320 pages, Audible, 8 hours 21 minutes.Amazon Kindle Sales Rank when this review was posted: 122.This is an intriguing fictional political suspense novel, the second in a series featuring Joe Reeder and Patti Rogers.When you read that it is a political suspense novel, you can probably figure that the story arc is going to include a hard-edged military anti-establishment character and that the language will be seedy, (what my mother always referred to as mule skinner language). If the f-bomb annoys you, look for a different story.Although this stereotype has been around in print for a couple generations, it seems it will last for much longer. Certainly, it still works with this PI, as brought to life in this great story by Max Allan Collins and Matthew V. Clemens.Although this is a series, I did not read the first book and don't believe I enjoyed this story any the less. Also, there is no cliffhanger ending, although there clearly we are left aware that follow on work related the this story is coming, someday.Note: I discovered this book through Audible and got into it so fully, I added the Kindle version a short while ago. What astounds me most is that until this book, I was not aware of Max Allan Collins, despite his great success with Private Eye books, and a score of TV credits that includes Mike Hammer, CSI, etc.EXCERPT: The below excerpt should provide a good feel for the pace and flow of this story:“Then . . . then we showed up.”"If he recognized me as we drove past—this was likely our blond perp—he knew he’d scored a bonus round. If you and I hadn’t chatted a while in the car, we’d have already been inside when he hit the detonator.”"We . . . we’d have been . . . scattered all over this parking lot . . . with the rest of the debris.”Sirens sang their distant song. This was the boonies, but somebody had seen the flames rising into the sky, and/ or heard the big boom.Their breathing slowing, the air clearing some, the smoke on its upward trajectory, the two got up and had a look at their rescued corpse. Only the figure’s back was charred black, the front of him appearing relatively normal—his expression almost serene, as if he’d slept through the other side of him getting cooked."Dead before the explosion,” Rogers said.Reeder pointed out the two punctures in the blackened back of his neck—barely visible but the indentations were there, all right."Double-tapped,” Rogers said.Reeder nodded and looked back toward the trees on the other side of which was the service road. Just then flames illuminated something over that way, and glass winked and blinked at him.A sniper scope."Gun!” he said, and then came the muzzle flash.They both hit the snowy cement, sending up puffs of white, then each scrambled around behind the car, Reeder around front, Rogers around back. She had a handgun and the shooter had a rifle and the advantage of firepower and distance were his. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d run on snow. He was trying to be careful in the dark, trying not to trip over any chunks of debris, and was grateful for the minimal moonlight and even fire glow, assuming it didn’t give him away.As he reached where the building ended and concrete parking lot yawned to a strip of snowy landscape with the line of trees waiting, he climbed out of his Burberry and left it behind, his dark suit better suited for his purpose.With the night alternating pops of the Glock and resonant reports from the rifle, Reeder headed over to where the service road curved around behind the buildings, the line of trees ending where that curve began. As the shooter exchanged shots with Rogers, the rifle’s scope would not be swung way the hell over here. Or so Reeder told himself as he kept very low on the asphalt, as low as possible and still run.Any other Tuesday night, this industrial park would be all but silent. An occasional car would thrum by, the odd owl might hoot, tree leaves might rustle with wind; but tonight was a cacophony of howling flames, screaming sirens, crunching snow, all punctuated by the bellows of his own labored breathing.Overall, despite the thin premise of the story so reliant on a worn stereotype, this is a terrific story worth reading, hearing, or reading and hearing.

By Diane Saul When a former colleague of Joe Reeder is found hanging from his belt in a seedy hotel it is ruled a suicide. Ex Secret Service agent Joe doesn't believe it. His friend tried to call him the night he died asking for his help. FBI agent Patti Rogers is working a case of multiple murders around the DC area. Nine of the victims appear to be connected except for the manner of death, a double shot to the back of the head. In the course of his investigation Joe realizes the two cases are connected and soon he is working with the FBI task force. Somehow the conspirators manage to stay one step ahead of the investigation. Political intrigue and conspiracies keep you wondering who to trust and how they are going to stop a major conspiracy from killing hundreds of people.

I shuttered as the author skirted Regency propriety on several occasions. The first: The heroine asks a gentleman caller if he was complimenting her breasts and how they looked (as she said he was staring at them). In Regency England, really? What makes a traditional Regency so sweet is the tension between romance and propriety, not tossing all the rules out.Regardless, the heroine and hero are entirely likable. The dialogue is clever. The story was quick and managed warmed a chilly evening.

She had a mind of her own not liking anyone her mother picked out. She is the sister in law to Lynette from the first book in series. She is out with her friends one day and see Lucas O Brian riding in his sled she feels this attraction and wants to get closer to him.. A man on horseback comes racing by and Lucas saves her from being hurt. They end up in the snow she on top of him. He has to go home with she and her friends to be thanked by her parents. The problem of the story to me it was too short for any romance to develop between them. He was a known rake and womanizer the short scene earlier with his mistress was more than the time they had together. She first time Annabelle saw Lucas she to,d him she loved him at first sight . He left her saying some very unkind words words to her. She moped for two weeks about him.She saw him on the street I will not say what happened between them but boom that was they end of the book. I don't think a novella was long enough to build a romance in this story. I did not feel a romance when two people only see each other twice. I am going to read the next book in the series as it is longer like the first book.
