I shuttered as the author skirted Regency propriety on several occasions. The first: The heroine asks a gentleman caller if he was complimenting her breasts and how they looked (as she said he was staring at them). In Regency England, really? What makes a traditional Regency so sweet is the tension between romance and propriety, not tossing all the rules out.Regardless, the heroine and hero are entirely likable. The dialogue is clever. The story was quick and managed warmed a chilly evening.

She had a mind of her own not liking anyone her mother picked out. She is the sister in law to Lynette from the first book in series. She is out with her friends one day and see Lucas O Brian riding in his sled she feels this attraction and wants to get closer to him.. A man on horseback comes racing by and Lucas saves her from being hurt. They end up in the snow she on top of him. He has to go home with she and her friends to be thanked by her parents. The problem of the story to me it was too short for any romance to develop between them. He was a known rake and womanizer the short scene earlier with his mistress was more than the time they had together. She first time Annabelle saw Lucas she to,d him she loved him at first sight . He left her saying some very unkind words words to her. She moped for two weeks about him.She saw him on the street I will not say what happened between them but boom that was they end of the book. I don't think a novella was long enough to build a romance in this story. I did not feel a romance when two people only see each other twice. I am going to read the next book in the series as it is longer like the first book.
