I won't say that this is the best book that I have ever read but if you like a solid story with good characters this book is an excellent read. So many books die down when second and third books come out, this is a nice exception to that rule. I will definitely be buying the third book. Kudos for spell checking and grammar. It goes a very long way that you don't get tripped out of reading and enjoyment when you find a mistake, and books are rife with such errors nowadays
2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Dissapointing sophomore release. By Seeker Tastes in books differ. Sometimes greatly. In my case, I find this sophomore offering from the author to be a let down from the first book. The awkward writing style, over use of adverbs, misuse of words and other issues are still present from the first book which I rated at 3.5 stars. In addition to all the original problems, the character development devolved, the protagonist went from a hero set on vengeance to a moody self indulgent anti-hero bent on revenge with no more provocation than he had in the first book. Please note that to my mind vengeance is very much different from revenge as the connotations of revenge are all negative and self indulgent while vengeance is more closely linked with justice and selfless in nature. Distances were also of significantly more import in this book but were still unrealistically portrayed, with most of them being too short for realism.I write this review in the hopes that other more critical readers will have a view of the book that is more likely to agree with theirs present in the customer reviews. Also, I sincerely hope the author reads this review and takes it as an honest opinion that attempts to help him create a better story for all to enjoy and advance in the craft of writing. As it stands this is a book that would never have passed the publishers in the days of paperbacks let alone hardbacks.
