Very handy, if you're one of her avid reading audience, like I am. Once I finish my re-read of her Outlander series, it will be time to read up on Lord John Grey. Goody!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not what I expected By Marcia A. McDade I was disappointed. I have read all the books in order. I was looking for a summary book to refresh my memory-thinking I might re-read my favorites or refer to a summary while watching the show. The series is great each book more engaging than the previous. She is a fantastic writer and her research is great.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I liked it! Nice short story By amtmcm Lord Bartholomew is looking for a wife, but is he looking for the wrong attributes for a vicar's wife? Does he really want someone staid and straightlaced (and seems to like to complain)? After a conversation with his sister, he starts rethinking his requirements in a wife.Emily is cheerful and pretty and Bart's not sure he likes the way she teases him. But there's no denying the attraction between them. There are a few passionate kissing scenes, and it gets a little steamy on the wedding night, but the bedroom door slams shut right before consummation. This is a short story, but I found the characters and storyline interesting enough that I would have enjoyed it more if it was longer. A nice, free intro to this author's delightful writing.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A real stinker By Kimberlee Jewell I'm always looking for a good Christmas story, but I sure didn't find it here. I was amazed at the amount of poor writing that could be crammed into a 30 page story, without any actual story. The gist of this tale is that our H is a Vicar on his way to India after Christmas, ( BTW- this is the only reference to the holidays in this 'Christmas story') Our heroine is a spirited gal in her 3rd season, attends the same church as the H, but he apparently never noticed her. They meet twice, he is sure that she is not the one for him, then the third meeting ~BAM! Pretty much end of story. The author crammed in some "Regency" wallpaper ~ Almacks, the Albany, the Vicar wearing polished hessians, etc., just so you know that it's Regency. The first meeting is after he rescues the h's mothers cat up a tree. He is stripped to the waist in the library(?) because he got scratched, The h literally pops up from behind the sofa, where she had apparently fallen asleep. Instead of leaving the room in mortification, she ogles him openly while they banter back and forth. The second meeting was at Almacks, and was several wasted pages of wallpaper. The final meeting was the h offering the H a ride in her closed carriage, unchaperoned, during a rainstorm ~ he climbs right in without a qualm. Never in a million years. There are many more inconsistencies, punctuation errors and incorrect word usage ~ the Vicar hoped to 'reside' over his sisters wedding....really? Pretty sure that I won't be trying any of this Authors other work.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A bit rushed at the end, but an enchanting story. By Reader Lady I truly enjoyed Lord Bartholomew’s Christmas Bride. Even though, it is a very short story, surprising enough, I found it a well developed and believable book. It is true to the regency period, giving the opportunity to fall back in a time gone by.Lord Bartholomew is getting ready to go to India to take up a new living as Vicar. He needs a wife to go with him. Of course he needed someone who would be a good help meet for him and his parish. He decided to attend ton parties in the hopes of finding the perfect woman. There is one problem. Bartholomew has met Emily Asherwood, an unacceptable young lady although very alluring. As he moves around in society, he sees Emily at most of the functions and each one only makes her more attractive and the other young ladies less appealing.Should Bartholomew throw caution to the wind and take Emily to wife, thus having the woman of his heart, or choose the staid miss who on the surface is the better choice? If you are looking for a sweet romance set in the lovely season of Christmas, one with delightful characters and an interesting story line, then you will enjoy Lord Bartholomew’s Christmas Bride. Happy reading!4.5 Gold Crowns

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Superb. By William Price An ending to my favorite book series has come to an end, and I was not left disappointed. What to say... Russell Blake is my favorite author. I will not include bias in this review. The 6th installment in the Assassin series was gripping. As his usual style, he left me curious and anxious for the next chapter to find out what the hell was going to happen next. The plot and details were not lacking. My only "gripe" would be that the final book in the series was not as bloody and violent as previous chapters. In my opinion that is a very small price to pay for an ending that satisfies. We all know how rare those are. Thank you, Mr. Blake, for an adventure I shall never forget.

She just stole from the wrong person.

Being wild is in my blood—anything else short of that isn’t an option. I play it fast and loose—with a different woman in my bed every week and more money than I could count. And then Tina Harris just had to go and steal my bike. Well she’s about to find out that nobody steals from me and gets away with it. I’m going to bring her back—even if I have to drag her back. And then I’m tying her to a bed and I’ll teach her the consequences of stealing. I’m going to own that body and tame those curves. She thinks she can take something from me? Well, I’m going to take everything from her.

I like to play dirty, but Jack Carter is in a whole other league.

I’ve seen my fair share of trouble since my days of foster care. Now I’ve violated parole and found myself on the run from the cops again. I needed a getaway ride—and fast. How the hell was I supposed to know who the bike belonged to? Now I’m in a world of trouble and he’s the only one who can help. I shouldn’t trust strangers—especially not dangerously handsome strangers like Jack Carter. He thinks he owns me. He’s forgetting that I’m a damn good thief. This is a full length standalone romance with no cliffhangers and a guaranteed HEA ending. Your copy of Jack of Hearts includes two BONUS BOOKS -- Queen of Clubs and King of Diamonds!! * This sexy steamy bad boy romance is perfect for fans of Joanna Blake, Devon Hartford, Sabrina Paige, Winter Renshaw, Vanessa Waltz and Dani Wyatt *

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Cliffhanger By Deborah I know, I know I should check, I usually do but in all honesty I've been on a good run lately and I've got lazy so I didn't expect a cliffhanger which is a shame because I was enjoying this book until then, I just really hate unexpected cliffhangers I mean seriously how difficult is it to add a line to the blurb letting us know, anyway enough moaning.I enjoyed this book, I liked Tina which surprised me a bit because I wasn't sure from the description if I would but she's intelligent and street smart and her reasons for her life of crime are explained. I liked Jack as well, obviously after all I'm female, what made a nice change is that in most books like this the male character is always huge, the biggest they've ever seen, you know what I mean so it was a bit of a shock to discover that Jack who's a bit of a stud 'wasn't huge, but big enough'I'm giving 3 stars because I'm still annoyed about the unexpected cliffhanger and the 'fight' at the beginning of the book just seemed a bit contrived.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Bad girl heroine--nice twist By Jennifer G. Jack of Hearts (Desert Sons MC #1)By: Kathryn Thomas3/5 starsTina is a woman on parole after paying with a year of her life for the crimes she has committed. But it's hard being an ex-con, trying to find a job, a place to live, a car and just catching a break in general. Who would you believe a civilian or an ex-con?Jack is the Vice President of the Desert Sons MC. He catches Tina trying to steal a Harley after she broke into the clubhouse. After having a tussle with her, he thinks that her criminal skills could be of use to him and the club. After showing off her skills, the club decides to take her into consideration, because no one really knows her well enough to trust her. They don't know if she can or will do the job and then they have to trust that she will keep her mouth shut. For me, I liked the premise of the story, but there wasn't enough character development. I did like Tina's backstory but virtually we were just given a basic description of everyone else. There seemed to be (at least to me) details that were just glossed over that could have helped hold a greater interest or at least made several aspects more realistic in my mind instead of causing questions and greater shadows of doubt and bigger holes in the storyline. The book is fairly short and a quick enough read, but is left on somewhat of a cliffhanger. It gets to a point where it feels like books are left shorter with a cliffy in order to sell more books. I prefer full length novels, with a well thought out plot and little pointers that are the glue to hold your story together. But since this book was free, I picked it up. It was also difficult to discern when the author switched between Tina and Jack's POVs. They were unlabeled and it happened sometimes during the same scene without a degree of separation, so sometimes I'd have to read back over the lines to figure out who was talking.I was a good book, just too many little things that added up to bigger problems that my brain focused on instead of being completely in to the story. I liked the book & the characters & will more than likely get the next book in the series.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Jack By andrewsheath Tina I loved her she's just a likable person even if she does illegal crap, and when she's with Jack you see a different side of her, "she smiled in the darkness as he moved in close to her back, tucked his knees behind hers, and pulled her into a comfortably tight spoon. "No. As comfortable as the couch is, this is better." She's adorable when she asks Jack for things, "oh," Tina said in mock disappointment. "Can we go for a ride, not on the bikes, first?" she asked, and he heard the smile in her voice." I wasn't expecting the ending, I mean the cliffhanger wasn't bad.

A Thrilling Frontier Adventure By RArdigo@aol.com For those of you who love to read western adventure stories, "The Black Jacks," written by the frontier specialist Jason Manning, is one that must not be skimmed over on the bookshelf. The bloodbath in Texas includes as much action as the movie "Braveheart," and almost as much drama as "Titanic." This great novel can keep one reading all night due to the numerous cliffhangers. Jason Manning wrote this terrific book involving many characters, which of course leads to great conflict on top of the huge battle itself. I definitely liked this book a lot to the point where I am searching to read another title in Manning's great frontier series. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good adventure story with a lot of action and drama.

The author of Murder on Amsterdam Avenue returns to nineteenth-century New York City to find Christmas in the air, a police detective and a midwife with love in their hearts, and a wealthy newlywed with blood on her hands… Detective Sergeant Frank Malloy and Sarah Brandt are not the only ones who have recently tied the knot. Family friend Mrs. O’Neill was delighted when her daughter Una wed the seemingly wealthy and charming Randolph Pollock. She didn’t wonder why such an affluent man would want to marry a poor Irish girl, no matter how pretty she was. But now Mrs. O’Neill has a problem. Pollock’s servants have found their employer bludgeoned to death with Una cradling his body. Rendered mute by the horror of her husband’s death, Una cannot explain what happened, so the police have charged her with murder and locked her away in the Tombs to await trial. Mrs. O’Neill would like Frank to investigate the case and save Una, yet with Frank and Sarah still on their honeymoon, it’s up to the other members of their newly formed household to do some detective work. But solving the mystery behind Pollock’s death means first discovering the truth about who he really is…

This was a bit different since two main characters were away on their honeymoon. However, the author managed to create a great story with the remaining repeat characters. It was by far one of the better books I've read this year in this genre.

Character driven and fast paced By Lily - Night Owl Book Cafe When a woman shows up on Franks Malloy’s doorsteps, his midwife Maeve is weary of her appearance and think that this is just another person from her employers old neighborhood looking for a handout. When it turns out that Mrs. O’Neill is there on behalf of her daughter Una seeking Frank’s help to rescue her daughter for being accused of murder, Maeve jumps into the Malloy’s spot to handle the situation (as Frank is on his honeymoon and is unavailable). As Maeve tries to find the real killer, it will take the help of a few other friends in order to clear Una’s name, including the help of Gino Donatelli, a cop who happens to be very sweet on Maeve.Excellent story, I thoroughly enjoyed Murder on St. Nicholas Avenue. Victoria Thompson does an amazing job of combining historical fiction with mystery, into a novel that’s so compelling, it is hard to put down. Character driven and fast paced, I found the 18th book of this series totally engrossing. Maeve was an excellent character. Do not be fooled by the blurb, though it does mention Frank and Sarah Malloy, the usual due of Gaslight mysteries, this one really stars Maeve and Gine. Maeve is fierce, out-spoken and tough as nails. She was such a joy to follow around this mystery and her relationship and banter between Gino Donatelli was both amusing and heartwarming. I loved the little romance brewing between these two. “This is so much nicer than a cab,” Maeve said, stroking the fine wool lap robe. “Much more private, too,” he said, remembering his claim that Maeve was his girl and wishing it were true. He thought she gave him a look, but it was too dark to be sure. “Yes, we don’t have to worry about little ears hearing what we say. I think that’s why Mrs.Decker suggested we go to their house.” Gino managed not to sigh his disappointment that she didn’t get his hint. The story also featured a curious Mrs. Decker, who loves to butt in and her husband, Mr. Decker that finds his wife’s involvement, very amusing especially when she tries to hide it. I love their relationship mainly because of the way Mr. Decker reacts to his wife’s involvement, especially when he finds out that she is doing to sneak behind his back. He teases her, and lures her just to watch her reaction when she realizes that he knows her antics all along. Their interaction is easy, teasing, and can really put a smile on my face. “How very clever,” Mrs.Decker said. “I must remember that.” “Why?” her husband asked. “Are you planning to murder someone?”The mystery was fun, and like I had already mentioned a bit hard to put down. Una is the woman accused of bashing her husbands head in. As we learn more about Mr.Pollock, her husband, you can’t help but feel a kind of resentment for the man and all of his wrong doings. Una was a really hard character to like, so if that was the case that Thompson was building, she had accomplished it because not only did I not like her, I downright hated her by the end of the book. “But I didn’t kill him,” she repeated. Maeve would’ve been angry by this point, but Una just pouted prettily. The woman grated my nerves, especially when throughout the entire book she was using her looks to sway people and to me she just seemed like a total nutcase.heh.The only thing that disappointed me was that I was hoping for a bit more of a holiday feel to the book because the cover suggested that, but I didn’t get much of that at all.Overall, if you are a fan of historical mystery, Victoria Thompson is a master at writing with memorable characters that grow with every book, an engrossing mystery and just simply wonderful writing.I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. her daughter married a nice man with a deal of money By ARG Sarah and Frank are on their honeymoon until the last chapter, but that is exactly what makes this plot work. While they are gone, a neighbor for the Malloys old neighborhood knocks on the door asking for help. Maeve takes pity on the woman, her daughter married a nice man with a deal of money. He has been killed and her daughter arrested. Maeve recruits Gino to get information on the crime. They need an attorney so they go to the home to get a change of clothes and cash and Mrs Decker is recruited to make sure they get in the door. Maeve finds heaps of money in the safe along with a ledger, not knowing what it means they get Mr Decker involved. Soon the foursome are an unlikely team and the idea of Frank starting a detective agency on his return is being floated around. They uncover a big swindle was being perpetrated by the victim and there is more going on than they first suspected. Maeve and Gino have sparks flying and the Deckers are always entertaining when they get involved. I didn't miss Frank and Sarah at all, it was lovely to see the secondary characters take the initiative and get time to shine. Mrs Malloy and the children all make lots of appearances as well. Wonderful holiday theme too
