Booklist magazine said he "may be the last of the pulp writers." He co-founded and edited Mystery Scene magazine and co-founded the American Crime Writers League. He founded The Private Eye Writers of America in 1981, where he created the Shamus Award. To date he has written almost 400 books in The Gunsmith series alone. By Cap'n Bookfiend This one WOULD rate five stars, but there were elements that did not make sense (surrounding Client's inheritance and the attention it would draw). Otherwise, this is a great, action packed story. The battles are good, as well as Clint's ability to stay one step ahead of the baddies.P.S. For anyone wondering, many Gunsmith's end with Clint basically saying "okay, we've got the small frys and the evidence we need, now lets get the big dog". This is similar to some old school serials, which could be the author's intent.
