Fantastic Story By Melyssa Winchester I’ve only ever experienced one Emily Goodwin book before those one and loved it, so having a chance to read this one before release was a no brainer. Especially when I found out that it was going to be a romantic comedy.I’m a sucker for a good laugh and this book delivered that in spades.What this book also delivered was two very real characters. Characters that I could connect to and feel for. One’s whose motivations felt real, and ones with lives built so well that they could very well be two people in my own life with as familiar as they came across as I read.I have to admit though, I definitely connected a lot more to Felicity than I did Ben. She reminded me in a lot of respects of myself, which may have been the reason for the almost instant connection, or it could have been because she wasn’t your typical romantic heroine. She was more. She was real. She was a nerdy type of girl with a heart of gold, one who until Ben enters her life, seems pretty secure in who she is. But a girl who like a lot of us, no matter what our ages, has insecurities that when things seem to get a little too heavy or real, rear their ugly head.Especially when a lot of the reasons for them to begin with happens to be thrown right in your path and despite your belief that you’re over it, you’re forced to deal with again on a day to day.Ben came across the way a lot of romantic hero’s do in books, but he also had subtle differences to him that set him apart. Yes, he was the guy that for someone like Felicity should be unattainable, but who because of who he is and the type of person she is, is the perfect person for her, even if the both of them as things progress don’t entirely see it. Or they let other things get in their way.They were so damn good together that it was impossible not to root for them. Their love story was equal parts emotional and humorous and everything that I imagine real love to be. At times it was a little messy, especially when outside forces get involved and try to take advantage of the girl Felicity once was, even getting their way a time or two, but it’s in the mess sometimes that you find something truly great and for these two they did.Attraction to friendship to love, it was a brilliant progression in terms of the love story itself, but what I took away from this book was so much more. I saw a young woman, who for so long, buried herself away from the rest of the world, stood apart from others because she wasn’t quite like everyone else really come into her own. I saw her fight against those insecurities that we all have and in the end win. And the best part was, she didn’t go through it alone. Ben was right there growing and changing right along with her, making it so when it was time for the cards to be on the table, for it all to come together, they were the best versions of themselves, while still keeping the parts of them that made them who they are and who I happened to love so much.For anyone who is a fan of romantic comedies, this is a must. It will keep you in stitches, while also giving you a wonderfully real romance, complete with some steam, infused with just the right amount of emotion to truly make you feel. This book, at least for this reader, had a little bit of everything and reminded me again as I read exactly what it is about romance that makes me love it so much.
4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Fantastic read! By Lina Eeks. Loved this book. Funny, realistic, honest and emotional. Felicity has to be one of the greatest heroines I've read. She was real, nerdy and utterly adorable. She is a computer genius but she settles for a low profile job. She is herself despite having been hurt in the past and she is kind and funny.Her entire life changes when she meets Ben. He is handsome and an artist. At first glance, he might seem like a player but not everything is as it seems. He sees Felicity for who she really is and pursues her.Despite their seemingly obvious differences, they click and Felicity feels as if she might have finally found the man she has been waiting for. Add in a bullying girl from Felicity's past and you have the perfect blend of comedy and romance.The book was light on drama and that made the book for me. It was interesting just because of how good the writing is. The author rocks this entertaining read and I couldn't have asked for a more relatable heroine. Excellent work.If you want some drama free romance with a perfectly imperfect kickass heroine, then look no further. If you want a book-boyfriend with a heart of gold then look no more. By Sara Miller I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a honest review.This book is completely different from what i have been reading and it is like a breath of fresh air! Ben and Felicity are this amazingly refreshing couple, I love how gamer/ kinda geeky she is (and I totally need that R2-D2 tank top because that sounds like something I would wear!) he is this artistic but total kid at heart type of guy and it makes their relationship pretty hilerious since they aren't afraid to be goofy with each other.From their first meeting (run in at a coffee shop and then a case of mistaken identity due to Felicity's high school nemesis) the Sparks fly! Their first date hijinks at the mini golf course was adorable! Both of them are highly competitive and that made for a fun scene of comparing Go Karts to a game of Mario Kart (Much respect for bringing up cool retro games!)All throughout the rest of the book we get too see all the quirks of their relationship, a lot of steamy times, quite a bit of cosplay and other adorable moments. There are a lot of moments also that everybody who has been in those beginning stages of a relationship can relate to. The whole defining the relationship and are we or aren't we exclusive talk, meeting the family. . . Etc.I really enjoyed this book! Felicity is going to be one of my favorite characters of the year I'm sure! She's quirky and different and somewhat unsure of herself but she is totally real and relatable and it feels like I've know her for years.
