P.J. O’Rourke has had a prolific career as one of America’s most celebrated humorists. But that career almost didn’t happen. As he tells it, “I began to write for pay in the spring of 1970. To tell the truth I didn’t even mean to be a writer, I meant to be a race car driver, but I didn’t have a race car.”Fortunately for us, he had to settle for writing. From his early pieces for the National Lampoon, through his classic reporting as Rolling Stone’s International Affairs editor in the 80s and 90s, and his brilliant, inimitable political journalism and analysis, P.J. has been entertaining and provoking readers with high octane prose, a gonzo Republican attitude and a rare ability to make you laugh out loud. Chris Buckley once described his work as “S.J. Perlman on acid” and when Penguin first published its Dictionary of Modern Humorous Quotations PJ had more entries than any living writer. For the first time Thrown Under the Omnibus brings together his funniest, most outrageous, most controversial and most loved pieces in the definitive P.J. reader. Handpicked and introduced by the humorist himself, Thrown Under the Omnibus is the essential P.J. O’Rourke anthology.

Review Praise for Thrown Under the Omnibus:“The world is short on laughs these days . . . Excellent timing, then, for the release of a thick collection of humorist P.J. O’Rourke’s work, culled from his 16 books by the author himself . . . Mr. O’Rourke has had a full and illustrious career, including stints at National Lampoon, Car and Driver and Rolling Stone. He occupies a rare place among the laughing class: He has somehow avoided the orifice obsession that captivates many of its members; he identifies as Republican; and he is no mere thumb-sucker, having visited more than 40 countries to report on wars, regime changes, economic revolutions and the experience of drinking cocktails garnished with the poison sacs of cobras.”—Wall Street Journal“Outspoken conservatives have long been a minority in comedy, particularly in the mainstream media, which provided an opportunity for P.J. O’Rourke, who for decades cornered the market for prominent right-wing humorists . . . If his wry essays have a mission statement . . . it’s this: Starchy Republicanism is really, really fun.”—New York Times Book Review“[P.J. O’Rourke] was really the first to inject-non-liberal hilarity into political discourse . . . But more important, he was able to yank conservatives out of the hands of the humorless and shrill, and make such writing accessible . . . He changed my life . . . If you don’t know him—you have your chance. Buy his new omnibus—an anthology of more good writing than you’d find in ten years of reading Proust.”—Greg Gutfeld“The only member of Woodstock Nation smart enough to brand himself as a conservative . . . O’Rourke’s career omnibus is best enjoyed from the depths of a button back chair with a glass of something golden at your side. Since the book is impossible to lift, the chair should be a stout one.”—Independent (UK)Praise for P.J. O'Rourke:"Whether you agree with him or not, P.J. writes a helluva piece."—Richard Nixon"P.J. O’Rourke is like S.J. Perelman on acid."—Chris Buckley"The funniest writer in America."—Wall Street Journal

About the Author P. J. O Rourke was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, and attended Miami University and Johns Hopkins. He began writing funny things in 1960s underground newspapers, became editor-in-chief of "National Lampoon," then spent 20 years reporting for "Rolling Stone" and the "Atlantic Monthly" as the world s only trouble-spot humorist, going to wars, riots, rebellions, and other Holidays in Hell in more than 40 countries. He s written 16 books on subjects as diverse as politics and cars and etiquette and economics. His book about Washington, "Parliament of Whores," and his book about international conflict and crisis, "Give War a Chance," both reached #1 on the "New York Times" bestseller list. He is a contributing editor at the "Weekly Standard," H. L. Mencken fellow at the Cato Institute, a member of the editorial board of World Affairs and a regular panelist on NPR s "Wait Wait Don t Tell Me." He lives with his family in rural New England, as far away from the things he writes about as he can get."

And while I may not always agree with his politics or opinions, I almost always find his work entertaining. This book represents some of his work over the last 30 years or so.=== The Good Stuff ===* O’Rourke is one of those writers whose work either you like or hate. Almost no one I have ever met is neutral on the subject. As always, his writing is sarcastic, humorous, tongue-in-cheek, serious, funny, sad, happy, offensive, sensitive and just about any other adjective you can think of.* Some of the works reprinted in this anthology are P.J. at his absolute best. His tale of tourism in war-torn Lebanon tells more about life in this part of the world than any serious story I have ever read on the subject. Likewise, I found myself laughing out loud at his descriptions of a “Peace Tour” of the Soviet Union- and at the same time gaining an understanding of what life was like.* While O’Rourke definitely skews toward the conservative or libertarian end of the political spectrum, his is not a zealot about preaching doctrine. He points out humor, silliness and ridiculousness wherever he sees it, including in his own experiences and past history.* The book is a nice sampling of O’Rourke’s work. My personal favorites of his stories are those relating his travels in various war-torn countries and underdeveloped hellholes. He has a remarkable talent for relating daily life, showing something of the good and bad in the residents and hanging out with the “fun” people.=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===* The book is long. It might be a bit much for someone not used to PJ’s writing style, especially if you try to read the whole thing at once.* Some of O’Rourke’s work is timeless, but some his not. His tales of drinking and driving from 30 years ago just fall flat in the face of modern social values. Also, some of his more historical writings may be lost on younger readers who have no memories of the Iron Curtain or the Soviet Union.=== Summary ===I had read many of the stories in this book previously, but I enjoyed rereading most of them. For the most part, I enjoy O’Rourke’s writing style and observations, and many of them are still relevant. While much of his commentary is somewhat political, it is not the diatribe of the talking heads, but rather a look at the strange happenings in the world through the eyes of a conservative commentator. If you haven’t been exposed to the author previously, you might want to sample one or two of his works before taking on this anthology.=== Disclaimer ===I was able to read an advance copy through the courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley.

While I admire him and enjoy his writing I do no mistake him for a partisan Conservative or someone who is working for the GOP and against the Democrats. He is willing to skewer everyone; everyone who deserves skewering. And that is, well, everyone. I have always found his writing informative, enjoyable to read, his humor always seems like it should be more predictable and repetitive than it is. He is wittier than you suppose and slips the knife in but you laugh before you understand exactly where it has been placed, maybe in you and yours. Some have referred to this as a greatest hits album. I guess it is. But I think of it as a way to peruse his best writing from his books over the decades and see how his views have changed and what has remained more or less constant. What he had hoped for (not much) and what disappointed him (nearly everything). If O’Rourke has one flaw that makes me put down his books and give them time to rest before I pick them up again is that I find it too pat to just piss on everyone and everything. In his work that matters to me the most, he does find some hope, some positive energy and a real effort to make the benighted wake up.While I do not claim to have read every word that the author has written (and here we only get excerpts from his books, not samples of his columns), I do have more than a few of them at home and my favorites are: “Parliament of Whores”, “Give War a Chance”, “All the Trouble in the World” , and my favorite of all is “Eat the Rich”. I also enjoyed “The CEO of the Sofa” and “On The Wealth of Nations”. Do I have to point out that it is perfectly fine if your views vary from mine? So, why would someone who has all or most of this author’s books want to get this one, too? Is it just a form of OCD? Is it a desire to make a wealthy writer even wealthier? Simple. If you don’t buy into my earlier statement of strolling through his best writing in one shorter hike than rereading whole books, think about it another way. If, like me, you are old enough to have purchased his books when they were new and enjoyed them when they were in the news, you now likely have children (and possibly grandchildren) who are adults and have likely NOT read O’Rourke’s works. Why didn’t they read them, because he was YOUR author and therefore utterly uncool in their youthful world. But now they are older and reconsidering their values (revaluing their values as their once beloved Nietzsche once put it). They are not going to push through the whole book or understand the references to current events. Here we have the writing the author and the editor think that best stand on its own. You can give them the gift of O’Rourke in one handy field manual! One thing we do not get in this book, beyond the brief introduction, is the author’s views of each of the works, reminiscences about writing the book, the struggles with the editor, a recounting of the way the critics and public reacted to it at its release, or the settling of old scores. We just get the writing. And that is fine. We enjoy the author for his writing, after all. Maybe he will give us a different book wandering through the corridors of how he went through his own life. But I kind of doubt it. Confession really doesn’t seem to be his thing beyond the persona he has created as a device for his writing. I have no idea how much of what the author says about himself is real and how much is a writing device. And even if he told us what was what, would he be leveling with us? Who knows.Let’s just enjoy his writing and insights.Reviewed by Craig Matteson, Saline, MI

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. a greatest hits compilation By D. H. I have to admit that based on the blurb I was expecting articles from The National Lampoon, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, The Wall Street Journal, various car magazines, etc. Instead the material in this book is all taken from his previous books by this same publisher. As someone noted; a greatest hits compilation. It's like ordering a greatest hits album from an artist and realizing the songs are from one of the artist's labels, but not from all of the labels on which the artist recorded. Would love to have an anthology of his writings from all of those other miscellaneous sources.

Longlisted for the 2014 Man Booker Prize

We are our stories. We tell them to stay alive or keep alive those who only live now in the telling. That's how it seems to me, being alive for a little while, the teller and the told.So says Ruthie Swain. The bedridden daughter of a dead poet, home from college after a collapse (Something Amiss, the doctors say), she is trying to find her father through stories--and through generations of family history in County Clare (the Swains have the written stories, from salmon-fishing journals to poems, and the maternal MacCarrolls have the oral) and through her own writing (with its Superabundance of Style). Ruthie turns also to the books her father left behind, his library transposed to her bedroom and stacked on the floor, which she pledges to work her way through while she's still living.

In her attic room, with the rain rushing down the windows, Ruthie writes Ireland, with its weather, its rivers, its lilts, and its lows. The stories she uncovers and recounts bring back to life multiple generations buried in this soil--and they might just bring her back into the world again, too.

History of the Rain: A Novel, by Niall Williams

From Booklist *Starred Review* From her boat-shaped bed in the attic room of her family’s County Clare thatched-roof home, invalid Ruth Swain tries to uncover the secret of her father’s tortured life. She is surrounded by the thousands of books he devoured, everything from Dostoyevsky to Dickens, García Marquez to Galsworthy. In the stories of others, Ruth hopes to find her own family’s story, which begins with her rigidly religious great-grandfather, who set in motion the Swain quest for impossibly high standards. The failure to meet them will resonate for generations, culminating in the struggles of her father, Virgil, a dreamer and fisherman, the Irish prerequisites for becoming a poet. His inspiration arrived the night Ruth and her twin brother, Aeney, were born; it died the day Aeney drowned. Now housebound with a mysterious ailment, Ruth wants to write her father’s story in a book of her own before she dies. You can smell the peat burning and feel the ever-present mist in acclaimed Irish novelist Williams’ (John, 2008) luscious paean to all who lose themselves in books. Williams captures the awe and all of Ireland—its myths and mysteries, miseries and magic—through the pitch-perfect voice of a saucily defiant young woman who has witnessed too much tragedy but who clings devotedly to those she’s lost. --Carol Haggas

Review

“A glorious celebration of [Ireland's] storytelling tradition . . . Sweep[s] the reader joyfully along.” ―The Daily Telegraph

“History of the Rain is charming, wise and beautiful. It is a love letter to Ireland in all its contradictions, to literature and poetry and family. It acknowledges that faith itself is a paradox, both possible and necessary. And faith carries this novel--faith that stories can save us, that love endures, that acceptance is within reach, and finally, that it is possible to get to the other side of grief.” ―Shelf Awareness

“A celebration of books, love and the healing power of the imagination.” ―Irish Independent

“Destined to be a classic, Williams's seventh novel isn't just the elegy Ruthie offers to the departed but also a love letter to reading and its life-giving powers. [Her] voice invites comparisons to Jim Hawkins, Ishmael, and hosts of legendary literary narrators.” ―Library Journal

Profoundly moving By Sascot One could finish this book feeling cheated by the narrator, Ruth, who never tells us precisely what illness she suffers from but one doesn't. This novel ebbs and flows like the mighty River Shannon that plays such an integral part to the story of the Swain family over three generations, most especially for Ruth's father, Virgil. All too often when one has a narrator a story has no momentum. In the History of the Rain, the author never allows Ruth's story to flag. This is a deeply moving book that shows us what it is to be ourselves. There are moments of terrible sadness here when death strikes because the reader is made aware of the love that everyone has for each other that makes these events profoundly moving using an extraordinary economy of words.Ruth makes you feel part of this family and the wider community as she views the world from the restricted confines of her room in the attic through the pages of the massive quantity of books that threaten her very safety. You dare not skip a sentence, for if you do you might miss a sharp comment or observation that will have you in stitches; that Irish humour that enables them not to take life too seriously, which Ruth has in abundance. The glue that bonds the entire story together is literature, and more importantly, poetry but do not allow the amazing references that the author provides to distract you from what is ultimately a deeply emotional tale of one family, whose refusal to conform to the ordinary provides us with characters in this book, with not a mean one amongst them, for whom one generates an enormous affection. This is possibly my most enjoyable read of the year.

There's a library inside me."I woke up thinking about this novel, and I almost regret dedicating my morning to finishing it. But sometimes a story begs to be devoured.Sometimes, you can tell an author is a devout reader through their writing. Niall Williams clearly is one of these types, based on History of the Rain. So, of course, I love him the more for it. This is a story of family, history, love, tragedy, Ireland, and books. And it's probably my favorite Man Booker 2014 longlisted novel so far.Ruth lives in her room due to a vague illness and a fear of the outdoors. She's inherited her father's extensive library, where she attempts to find him, one book at a time. Throughout the story, books are dropped like rain, and I was personally reminded of how many I need to experience. Though I'm very familiar with one of the most important writers frequently mentioned: Yeats. For how could you not include him in an Irish novel about writing and poetry? So, he's there. History of the Rain will surely strike a chord in people who appreciate not just the story inside the books, but the history and physicality of them as well. I'm firmly in the camp of books being a necessary part of my home's ecosystem. But as I've gotten older I've come to relish certain stories not just for the meaning of their content but for the fact that they were purchased and read by my father. A few he's given to me, and reading them is something personally spectacular. Though I'm not searching for my father in the way Ruth must, I find through his books how he came to be who he is now, before I ever existed. A moment like this I could particularly see in my own father (and perhaps a quality in myself):"The library that grew in our house contained all my father's idiosyncrasies, contained the man he was at thirty-five, and at forty, at forty-five. He did not edit himself. He did not look back at the books of ten years ago and pluck out the ones whose taste was no longer his."I can relate to this as my Father's only daughter (and child), and the importance it's had on my own life. Williams writes of a father/daughter relationship not often seen in literature, though these are generally portrayed much less than father/son relationships in the first place.Niall Williams writes with beautiful clarity and apparent ease. Hardly a chapter or page went by without a pause to take note of something profound. The imagery evoked in this sleepy community celebrates the Irish qualities that only such an account as this can excite. I wanted to fly to Ireland immediately while reading, but perhaps I should explore my own history first. If themes like this are of any interest, I encourage a thorough reading of this chronicle of one family. Though you don't need to be a Swain, or Irish for that matter, you may find pieces of your own history in this account, like I did.Highly recommended.

It is a classic about Ruth,a young Irish girl, struggling to find her way through despair and illness. The author takes the reader into the heart of her family. The characters have sharp powers of observation, flights of fancy, the love of talk, and great wit with a trace of sorrow, traits, it is maintained that the Irish have in abundance. I often forget the storyline and characters shortly after I have read a book. That will never happen with History of the Rain.

As with all the other books in this series you are left wanting more, and looking forward to the next one.A great read, highly recommended to anyone who can appreciate this genre.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. NEVER SAW THAT COMING! By RANDY MCBRAYER Bishop & Terri are the most enduring characters in post apocalyptic fiction, IMHO. Along with their accumulated friends, associates and co-workers, they always make for good quality reading, with lasting, honest storylines that suck the reader into the fray. In this, ELEVENTH volume in the successful Holding Their Own series, we find a myriad of dangers, mysteries, quandaries, and Bishop - especially - seems to be in the middle of it all (as usual). What's is NOT usual, however, is the context. Just as things are beginning to gel for the ever burgeoning Alliance, something (or a whole lot of somethings) just ain't right. And everyone seems to have their own very different take on things. At least those who will admit something is off.Old friends aren't so friendly, or trustworthy lately. And new arrivals seem to have an agenda - but just what that is, no one can agree on. All on the eve of an important new Alliance program - upon which much (if not everything) might depend. Amidst the usual SAINT missions, Bishop, Terry & Hunter's adventures, and Nick's recuperation things are getting tense. In some quarters, way PAST merely tense. And that is most unusual. But author Joe Nobody has crafted yet another masterpiece. Just how he continues this kind of quality storytelling at this pace astounds me. But I'm glad he does. Because no one does it better.

About the Author Authors note: Thank you so much for reading my first novel. I have never had so much fun as I have learning to write this book. In addition to being an avid reader of romance novels and stay at home mom, I am a hairdresser. A client of mine was a writer and while we were talking about her book, I mentioned that I wrote sequels in my head to books that I didn’t want to end. She encouraged me to just write something down. After she left, I snuck upstairs with a sheet of paper and pen and wrote (in very small print because I was so embarrassed to be writing) a paragraph from a made up sequel. My husband caught me and thought it was great what I was doing. Within the next several days I wrote a sixteen chapter sequel to one of my favorite books. I was hooked! I’ve never enjoyed a hobby more. Of course, I had to try my own novel. As soon as the kids were napping or sleeping at night, I was writing or researching. While doing the dishes and chores I would produce a scene in my head so I didn’t waste any time in the evenings. I’ll admit that I snuck in writing even when the kids were awake. They enjoyed climbing my back while I was hunched over at my laptop. Good fun for all. I finished my first draft in six weeks and have been extensively editing since then. Lucky for me, my best friend, Katie Goodman, just happens to be a teacher and brilliant critic of romance novels. She stepped up as my editor and made my book readable. I have already started the next book in the series and can’t wait to really get writing it. First things first, I have to finish On Gable Street. It’s so close I can taste it. This project has been important to me as I share lessons I have learned the gospel that I hold precious. I hope the book is uplifting and romantic fun.

I loved how I could barely put this book down; there were so many sneaky surprises! I also loved how I could relate to the characters so much and I was rooting for them the whole time!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Satan, The Devil, Pluto, Hades, Asiri is the epitome of evil. By angela mcpherson I've no idea how other to explain this book than anxiety-ridden. Yes, anxiety-ridden is the best term for The Damned. There's something sinfully delicious when falling for the bad guy, and Satan, The Devil, Pluto, Hades, Asiri is the epitome of evil. The thing is, I found myself leaning toward him a few times. I admit, a tiny part of me wanted Gabrielle and the Devil to share a happy moment, and yes, I felt so terrible afterward thinking it."The devil wasn't supposed to have a caring side. He was sadness and despair and loneliness and anger and violence and—""I am everything and nothing," he continued. But know this Gabrielle: I am not the devil. Not with you."See what I mean! Oh, man I didn't think I'd be able to read the entire book without indulging in a galss—okay, bottle—of wine! He's caused Gabrielle and Andre grief from day one, though while he had Gabrielle trapped in hell, Pluto changed. However, as the myth goes, Gabrielle can leave Hell and return to Earth. Return to Andre, her true soulmate and love of her life. Their affections for one another never wavers, if anything, their bond is strengthened."He tasted like I remembered—like home."So all was right in the world for like, a second. Oliver and Leann turn up and save the day, duh. ;) Oliver, oh how I missed the smart-mouthed fairy. His one-liners had me rolling! Leann is a great seer and leads them from ambush after another.Gabrielle is kick ass in this book! She's strong and bold and refuses to back down or shy away from what she wants: a life with Andre and her ties free from the Devil for good. Action from page one and the nonstop excitement never slows for a second. At the end of a series I'm always left feeling something was missing, but not the case with The Damned. Laura Thalassa did a fantastic job writing the final book in The Unearthly Series.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Darned Good Read! By Amazon Customer I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.Normally, I do not start reading a series by reading the last book in the series. It's akin to walking in 50 minutes into a 2 hour movie and asking what happened. (If you're one of those people, just stop.) Sometimes, series have standalone books and you can read out of sequence. That's not the case with Laura Thalassa's "The Damned". That being said, however, I did read it without reading the others."The Damned" was friggin' amazing! I hadn't meant to read it out of order. I was just going to browse the first page and check out how many words in the book. I was so hooked from the first page that I couldn't stop reading. This is the second book I've read by Thalassa. I just love her style. This book blew my mind! I laughed, I gasped, and I couldn't unglue my eyes from the words. It was so imaginative and well-written (of course, we're talking Laura Thalassa!).It was obvious to me that this book was researched quite well. Details stood out that weren't just a by-product of an active imagination. I do wonder how she came up with such a creepy description of hell...Speaking of hell... Her imagery was downright awesome. Her picture of hell wasn't just creepy. It bordered on frightening. And, the things that happened there.... I'm at a loss for how to describe them. I had images burned in my head for a few days after the last page of "The Damned".Thalassa's understanding and development of the man himself (Asiri) was excellent. She created a character which encompassed nearly everything I'd ever read about the first fallen angel. But, she made him real on the page. Thalassa associated emotions with Asiri which other people might not have imagined--love, hurt, pain (his and not someone else's), sorrow. That's creative! I aspire to that level of creativity.Naturally, I missed the details by reading the last book first. I wondered what the characters and locations looked like. I didn't have the understanding of previous events. But, the story was so well done, I was able to piece together things quickly without taking away from this book.I loved the premise of "The Damned", which was hope in a world surrounded by darkness and deception. I appreciated the characters she created and the outcome Thalassa gave them. It seemed very fitting giving the turmoil the main characters experienced.I highly recommend reading this book AFTER you've read books one through four. I have my copy of the first book and will re-read "The Damned" in the proper order.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Liked the series. By Amazon Customer This series was great in the beginning. Over the last few books, though, it dragged, and I found myself flipping through the pages to get to the resolution. That being said, if you are just beginning the series, it will probably be much better than waiting in between the small books, and losing the flow. Would recommend.

"The majority of space travel is rather boring, an exercise in routine tasks and maintaining a healthy mental state. The generally accepted description of open space is empty..." A ship held for ransom, a crew pushed to the limit. Seth Donovan is about to face an adventure that is anything but boring. A former Star Marine, Seth thought he had left the dangers of war behind him, despite still coming to grips with a mental illness borne of combat. When a crime boss forces his crew on a deadly mission to a far off star system, Seth needs to find the courage and skill to overcome not only his physical adversaries, but his mental ones as well. Dreaming of Atmosphere is the first book in a series focused on the exploits and ordeals of a man who would do anything for those he loves, despite fighting a constant battle against self-doubt, survivor's guilt and helplessness. It's not the lack of fear that makes one brave, it's tasting of fear yet doing it anyway...

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Lots of Detail, Plenty of Action, Likeable Characters By lawboss Details, like spices, are to be judiciously applied. It's not all bad--the author's military experience shines throughout the read and provides an authentic feel to the subject matter. And yes, like most engineers, the author appears to find great joy in explaining/breaking down just about every task, event or phenomenon into a Pert chart, checklist or lecture. The typos weren't that bad (better than most Indie offerings) and yes a good editor might tightened the story line--but then again--this offering was correctly priced and a good value. Overall, once you got use to the flow of the story, the characters were likeable, there is plenty of action (and yes, detail about that action)(LOL), the small subplots added texture and left me wanting more. I believe this author has talent and will improve with time. I will purchase the next offering in the series when it comes out shortly.

This could have been a very good book: The plot was good By Donald J Brunet This could have been a very good book: The plot was good, the characters interesting and well developed and the dialog was believable. However, I just can't respect and author that would care so little for his product that he would release it to the public in this condition. This book is a mess!! It needs extensive editing and proofing. On average it seems that every other sentence has at least one error. Misspelled words, wrong words, extra words, missing words, incomplete sentences often bad enough so that the meaning of the sentence is un-discernable. It is also marred by extensive descriptions and explanations that do more to display the authors knowledge and cleverness than contribute to the story line.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A great 5-star story marred by very bad 1-star editing. By Texas Ranger This was one of the best sci-fi novels I've read in years, but it was so irritating to read. We all are used to some typos on indie novels, but this was terrible. On over half the pages there were several typo or grammar errors: "out" instead of "our"; "were" instead of "where"; wrong verb endings (even allowing for Brit. grammar); double pronouns, etc. It's as if the author sent in his first rough typing draft using only a spellcheck. That said the story was action-packed and very entertaining, with likable, fully developed characters.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. I enjoyed this book By Tee I enjoyed this book. However, I felt like Belle focused too much on the friends of the main female character in order to build a platform for her next book. This is just an honest review but I thought it was well written as the seven Brothers series.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful new series beginning By Jazz Fan This was a wonderful book. I loved learning about Callie and her friends, Jax, Miss Hattie and Pearl. I can't wait to read more in the series. I loved how Mac was in the story. It helped the transition to the new series. Belle is a wonderful author.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A Great New Series Begins By Amazon Customer "Till The End Of Time" is like a wonderful drink of refreshing water while wandering in the desert. After months of longing for more stories about the fabulous Donahue family, author Belle Calhoune gives us a breath of hope with the beginning of a new series that starts with Mac Donahue's mysterious sister, Callie, whom he was ecstatic to find near the end of the book of his life in the Seven Brides for Seven Brothers series. Callie had been adopted by a very wealthy, but hurting, family from Savannah, GA through a black market agency, and her existence prior to her adoption had been all but wiped from history. Callie's book begins shortly after she discovers that her adoptive parents purposely hid Mac's existence from her, having told her he was dead. "Till The End Of Time" weaves a moving tale of Callie leaving her adoptive family's mansion to try to make sense of her life, and her attempt to find happiness. I found the story believable because, though I enjoyed a wonderful childhood and great family life, some of my friends did not, and I ached for them as they tried to come to terms with sometimes unbelievable intrigue. I thoroughly enjoyed "Till The End Of Time" and eagerly look forward to the rest of the stories in this series where glimpses of events in the lives of the Donahues will appear.
