I gutted it out until the end, but it was not easy to read. The author provides no sense of the time period, the passage of time.No less than six characters are presented in first person. Meaning six characters are speaking in first person. I still do not understand the purpose of the Iraqi Lt. Colonel. The narrative switches between first person characters with barely any notification. The author should have followed the Jeff Shaara method of story construction.Towards the end of the story the Israeli prime minister is named as PM Begin, suggesting the time period is the 1980s?Basically, the whole thing is a mess.

But author made at least two extremely stupid mistakes.1. The book considers Tel-Aviv as the capital of Israel. This is wrong because Jerusalem is the capital.2. Iran is not an Arabic country.

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Could Become a Great Epic with a Good Editor to Guide this Author. Authentic Perspective that I Found Intriguing. Good KU Borrow By Bill Anderson Length: Print, 356 pages; Audible, not available as an audiobook.Target Audience/Genre: This Action-Adventure for fans of war stories and/or terrorism. What was the Amazon Rank on the date this review was published? 10,996.Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first? Yes.Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures? The copy I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited in November had a large number of typos, but I replaced it with an update after learning from the author that he had improved the editing. Although there remain a few typos, especially words that appear to be duplications, most of the earlier typographical snafus have been cleared up. More on the editing is shown below though. Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read? This is a leisure read. What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made? Adult English, including f-bombs and other profanities. But these days, we’re growing accustomed even to presidential candidates utter foul language so the language is certainly consistent with the characters. My biggest pleasure or disappointment was the overall editing. The writer has a terrific idea for a war novel that could actually take place on any given day, in an area of the world that certainly is apt to be the source of the next great war. Further, the author takes a bold stance to launch his epic. Here though is an abbreviated list of some of the challenges or shortcomings that he needs to address to make this into a bestseller, major motion picture quality book:1 – Three terrorists (suspected to be Iranian but foreshadowing indicates this may be a ruse) who land on the beach then, somehow, get into an Israeli community in Tel Aviv, wherein they break into a home and murder two children and their parents and neighbors in the area respond. A bit far-fetched that they get into Tel Aviv, but not a fatal flaw PROVIDED he provides a narrative to describe their trek from the beach to this community. The bigger error, though, is that he describes the family’s reactions in a cold, far-too-distant manner. We don’t learn their names and get far too insight into them as human beings. I think I speak for most readers when I note our need to evoke the scene and to feel, even taste, the fear and the horror that is going to come. To do that, we need to know who the innocent people are and to truly hate the perpetrators who are committing something akin to Charles Manson’s crude attempt to start a race war. That necessitates that we know more about our assailants than this story lets us see. Possibly, this will necessitate a re-write of the entire book and, hence, will make this a three-book series, but if the writing is quality, more than a few of us will read it.2 The writer, all too abruptly, transfers us around the globe from a meeting with NSA and a new General whom, it seems, is hardly qualified for the post to which he’s been assigned by the president. Then that person jets off to Tel Aviv to meet with high level officials (including the prime minister) in Israel. This is where I had the greatest difficulty, for getting inside the head of this American General who seems to think like a sergeant is bothersome to no end. If I were counseling this writer I would recommend replacing this with something more akin to what I think the author is able to authentically imagine – have this area a meeting of enlisted men and junior officers in the field in Israel or a training school or something. Or, at least, have the thoughts coming forth from the supporting staff who are advising the leaders – this would be a unique approach and might actually permit his musings regarding the shortcomings he is trying to state regarding the likes of John Kerry. Then, with little fanfare, we’re getting a once over insight into the Iranian leadership. There are a number of other misgivings throughout the novel but they all could be rectified and this could actually become a great work with unique perspectives. I applaud his attempt to insert us into the various differing viewpoints – this is an extremely difficult thing to do – but it must be done in an authentic manner. What I mean is this:As I was employed in Egypt for an American contractor with a project in the West Bank, I twice had to go to Jerusalem to conduct audits on a USAID water project. I had to endure two hours standing and answering badgering questions in Cairo even before boarding the Israeli flight. After arrival, I had to again suffer the badgering questions for 90 minutes or so. I successfully finished the second interrogators questions and then I said, “Okay, I’ve answered your questions. Now I have some for you. Where are you from?”“My mother is Israeli and my father is from a country Mr. Bush also doesn’t like.”“Where?”I strained to hear her, then again asked, “From Where is your father from?”“Syria.”Then, I understood something of Israel that I never would have known. In the coming two weeks I came to appreciate the people of Israel and of the West Bank from a perspective uncommonly seen be an American. I also saw, though, the leadership of one country (Israel) that was more akin to the old Soviet Union than it was towards the United States. There may be justification for the sledge hammer approach of the Israeli leadership, but my point is not that, for we are talking about a novel here. My point is that the writer seems not to have ever noticed these subtle differences between Israel and America. Therefore, we get a story that seems couched in rhetoric and stereotypes and political insight into the minds of politicians, than it is in a study of human character. This story is begging to be told from a human standpoint. For fear that I’m sounding too harsh I shall stop with my thoughts here.I have, though, included a small excerpt below, so readers can peruse the style of presentation utilized by the author.EXCERPTI probably wasn’t supposed to see him do it, but out of the corner of my eye I watched him cut it with a very healthy shot of water.“The situation today is very much like that the one which existed in ancient Greece and Persia, General. Think about it. We Jews are like the Spartans and the Arabs are like the much more numerous Athenians and Persians. The Spartans always won because they spent a lot of time preparing to fight while most of the Athenians and Persians, like today’s Arabs and Persians, spent their time making speeches about how brave they are and telling each other about all the terrible things they are going to do to the Spartans when they win.”Ari may or may not be pretending to be a little drunk, but he’s been making the same point in different ways over and over again all evening. Why? I already know Israel has a strong army. Hell, maybe I’m getting paranoid.Iran is obviously at the top of the Israeli hit list so far as these guys are concerned. But, according to both of them, Israel is asking for our input because they are not absolutely certain who sent the latest batch of terrorists. They say they want to make absolutely sure before they act because when they do it won’t be pretty. But then why do the Israeli communications NSA has intercepted all say they are already sure it is Iran?Do they have an Iranian source? These guys are talking to me as if they don’t know we’re listening to their phones. Or do they know we try to listen to them and are letting us hear what they want us to hear? Both the Prime Minister and the defense minister were emphatic about Iran’s role in causing the renewal of fighting in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. According to them, Iran is actively sponsoring terrorism against the Sunnis in all the lands with significant Shiite populations and collaborating with Pakistan and Syria to develop nuclear weapons. But such a description of what Iran is doing doesn’t square with the new Ayatollah publically saying it would be wrong for Iran to develop nuclear weapons and claiming it would not happen. So I asked them flat out.“Is the Ayatollah telling lies or is he really not in charge or is he in charge and being misled by the Iranian military and intelligence community? Or are Israel and the United States being misled by ours? They were emphatic. “He lies.”“It’s a cultural thing,” explains Yair, the Mossad director, after he took a sip of wine.Archer, Martin (2015-11-01). Israel's Next War: An Exciting and Predictive Epic Novel about the coming war between Israel and the Islamic countries and militias of Iran, Iraq, and Syria. (Kindle Locations 585-609). MartinArcherV@gmail.com. Kindle Edition.Bottom Line:Because I so appreciate that the writer has made a bold attempt to show us a new kind of war story, and because such a novel approach does have great potential, I am going to rate this at three stars --- but I really hope to see an updated version, perhaps with a different title, released in the near future following a thorough editing. As it is now, it is okay as an outline. It could be, though, a great three-part book that really makes heads turn, so I hope the author will consider my review in the constructive spirit in which I humbly offer it.Comments are welcome, whether in agreement or in disagreement. There are rooms enough for folks from all perspectives in this mansion.

My stepbrother is raging hard and he won’t be controlled. When we first met, he was only a perfectly gorgeous stranger all covered in tattoos. I couldn’t resist pressing my body close against his. I couldn’t say no when he took me out to the alley to do more than just dance. How could I have known my overbearing Dad just married his crazy-as-hell Mom? His name is Nathan Magnus and he’s a total prick. He’s a Navy SEAL, trained to fight and kill in a thousand different ways, and he thinks he’s the best thing to ever happen to me. He’s everything I hate wrapped in everything I want. Now he’s staying at our house all summer. And that’s not even the worst part. Someone is after me because of my father’s shady business deals, and only Nathan is strong enough to keep everyone safe. He has no sense of boundaries. He’s my bodyguard, but that doesn’t mean he can strip down and take a shower right in front of me. And of course I can’t help but stare. He’s delicious, provocative, dirty, and arrogant. I may be safe with my stepSEAL around, but I don’t stand a chance. Raging Hard is heart-thumping violent, oh-too-steamy sexy, and features a hero with a filthy mouth. It’s only recommended for audiences 18+. Raging Hard is a standalone, full-length novel. No cliffhanger. Guaranteed HEA.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Red Hot Romance By Sarah Miles Claire Forester is a hard working, 21 year old virgin who would rather worry about having her head stuck in her studies than about giving up her sexual status. That is of course until the dirty talking SEAL, Nathan Magnus, crosses her path and suddenly what mattered the least quickly becomes all she can think about. But what will happen when two strangers smacked by instant lust, come to discover they're actually family? Is taking what you want strong enough to overcome the feeling of how wrong a situation is?"He probably thought I was some weird cat lady or like an overly emotional clinger or something. But the truth was, having sex had just never felt right. While all my peers were busy humping anything they saw, I kept holding out hope for someone decent to go through that experience with.Maybe that was naïve. Admittedly, I’d grown up a lot since then. I didn’t think losing my virginity was going to be some earth-shattering experience, or really any huge deal at all, but still. I wanted at least a decent guy for my first time."Claire was a laugh a minute. She could be strong as steel but weak as a piece of paper at the same moment. If it wasn't for her weakness to dump her best friend then I would of absolutely admired and adored her. Although I'm all for giving people a second chance and standing by them, Lydie, her supposed best friend was shockingly awful to her. Once or twice I prayed Claire would actually hurl her overboard the boat they were on and literally leave her there (I may be a little harsh sometimes!). But where she really came out of herself and became a better character was always around Nathan, he could not only turn her weak points in to strengths but he could turn her in to an utter sex kitten with one flick of his finger. Why can't these male characters ever actually exist?!"B*******. Pieces of s***. I was going to tear them all apart, limb by f****** limb, until I was drenched in their blood. They’d run screaming, begging for mercy, and as I stood over their bleeding and battered bodies, I’d smile and end them. What other men saw as a problem, I saw as a f****** challenge."The real smoke and fire of the book was with a doubt Nathan. You'd be hard pressed to ever find a male lead with more dirty lines than him. How my tablet didn't melt and require an extinguisher I'm not sure I'll ever know. But he wasn't all hotness and no substance, when he turned in to a one man army to protect his family he became a loveable hero. The scenes between him and his mother could be hard to read at times because they were utterly heartbreaking, but B.B. Hamel managed to write them with a great deal of care and sensitivity. Nathan was the complete action man with not just a heart of gold but with a remarkable air of realism. What's better than a red hot smoking read? Obviously it's one that has a red hot SEAL as one half of the main duo of said book! And this one certainly didn't disappoint in any way. B.B. Hamel kept up her never ending knack for telling an engaging, fast paced story of frowned upon trysts and pulse pounding dangers. I always admire this authors ability to give each book an entirely new location and scenery and this being based, at times, on the open seas felt incredibly fitting and refreshing. But my favourite thing and what actually gave me a really good feeling was the authors initial message in the book that losing your virginity isn't some unnecessary race. People should be a little more like Claire and be willing to wait until it feels right for them, not the ridiculous notion that exists where we have to do it as soon as possible because everyone else is. It's a great and important message to get out to people based around Claire's age of twenty one.I managed to devour the whole book in one go and it certainly warmed up my cold winter evening! Thank you to B.B. Hamel for another pleasurable read from start to finish, don't ever quit giving me new reads!I was very kindly provided with an ARC of Raging Hard by the author to read and review.

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. a thrillingly fast-paced and beautifully captivating adventure By Shadowplay Raging Hard is a thrillingly fast-paced and beautifully captivating adventure that will leave you absolutely breathless and completely content. It has the perfect blend of sassy and stubborn characters that light up and challenge a twisted, sinister plot. This is a story that will push your boundaries and make you take a good look at just how you define the most important things in life.Nathan has his life all mapped out. He knows what works for him and what doesn’t. Whenever he receives a call from his mother informing him that he is to meet his new step-father and step-sister, he is naturally less than thrilled. He has no interest in his mother’s latest attempt to snag a rich husband. However, one look at his step-sister Claire, and he knows he is in over his head. This isn’t the first time he has met her, and she intrigues him enough to want to take up his step-father’s offer to spend the summer with them. Claire never imagined meeting someone like Nathan, and now that she has, she isn’t sure whether she wants to keep him around or send him packing. All bets are off whenever she is threatened and finds that perhaps Nathan is more then he appears to be.Nathan and Claire are such wonderful characters that stole my heart as I watched them navigate the dangerous mind field of the heart. They are both strong, stubborn, and fiercely loyal to a fault. Their unique family dynamic was definitely something that you don’t see every day and caused them to lean on each other more so then they normally would have. Throughout the story, we see Nathan’s stone defenses melted away by the innocent, passionate, and beautiful Claire. It is such a beautiful sight to watch a strong, determined man discover what makes his heart beat and then do everything in his power to pursue, love, and protect her at all costs. While I immensely enjoyed reading Cocked by B.B. Hamel, I have to admit that I absolutely loved Raging Hard. It has found a very special place in my heart. Its very heart and soul is what makes a good story truly incredible. Hamel has an unbelievable talent at writing characters that would never seem to mesh who become the missing half of the other’s very soul. Reading one of these stories is like taking a deep breath of the cleanest, purest, and most life-inducing oxygen. It rejuvenates the soul and infuses the heart with much needed hope and love.

Christmas themes, including the magic of falling stars and diamonds and special wishes - yes. A satisfying HEA ( the scene where the h and H break the news to the twins is lovely) - yes.A heroine who is decent, kind, loving, intelligent, honourable and no push-over. A mother and a 28 year-old who has learned from life's experiences and disappointments, but has not been embittered by them. (In fact, she describes her marriage as being happy, not only because it gave her two gorgeous daughters.)A hero who is dashing, successful, somewhat ruthless, argumentative and irritated to find himself beguiled by the woman he feels let him down ten years ago. And who is drawn to visit his brother's house at Christmas, without warning, for reasons that escape him - only to discover that he has been lonely and that he yearns for love and a family of his own.All these components lead to a highly satisfactory second-chance Christmas romance. (The second sentence in Willread's review says it well.)How great that these early Chase stories are being released in Kindle version. I bought it again, even though I had previously read this story through a library loan. Keep the ebook releases coming please, Ms Chase.

Should have been a full size novel - 3.45 stars By CA This is a short and very sweet story of two people who fell in love too young and were given a second chance 10 years later. And I mean……short and sweet. I am not crazy about novellas but occasionally I come across a stunner (see Grant’s “A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong”). This one fell a bit short of my expectations.I don’t think that the novella was the best format for this particular story. It screamed for detail, and the novella format was just too limiting for Chase’s talents. Marcus and Christina fall in love when she is 18 and he is 24, but we never really get a taste for how they fell in love- it appeared more to be physical attraction than anything else, which is not my favorite premise. They look at each other, there is instant attraction, a stolen kiss in the garden, and that’s it – they are in love – not much detail in between. Even the resolution was a quick dash through romance-land. Chase can write slow, building steam like no other, but that talent was lost here, and I really missed it.There is some great dialogue, and the twins are pretty cute. Anything by Chase is a treat, and for that I agree this was a lovely way to spend an afternoon, but I just wish it had been a full-size novel - what Chase could have done with that would have knocked my socks off.

I never read it then, 23 years ago, but it has held up well. As a matter of fact, it has probably improved by virtue of the lackluster competition it has this year from 2015 Christmas stories and novellas. I've read several 2015 releases and so far have not really enjoyed any, so this story was like a breath of fresh air. It's a second-chance romance that gave me the warm fuzzies. The attraction between H and h is palpable, the dialogue is fun and witty, and the heroine's young daughters and their budding relationship with the hero is actually quite delightful. (And this is said by a grouchy, curmudgeon reviewer who doesn't usually like children in a romance.)Ten years ago 18-year-old Christina attended the wedding of a dear friend. There she met the 24-year-old brother of the friend's husband-to-be and there's a grudging but very strong mutual attraction. Unfortunately, the stars are not well aligned for this romance. They separate and In the 10-year interim, Christina marries, has twin daughters and is widowed. She and hero Marcus meet again for the first time since that wedding at the home of her friend and friend's husband, sister-in-law and brother of Marcus. And there you are. Will they make a go of their second chance or is there too much bitterness and misunderstanding between them? Hint: It's a romance. So maybe no surprises, but as long as Chase is in fine writing form (and she is here) whatever she offers is well received by me. This story is cute, romantic and gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling. It may not be a 5-star romance for everyone, but it is for me, in spite of costing more than it should for an only-64-page recycled story.

These stories contain sexual descriptions. “What the hell does he see in her?” Hope asked out loud. Hope had seen a picture of her and the only thing she really had going for her was youth. Hope was thirty-six, but she still had the slender figure of her college years, and the same pretty face that had won her several modeling jobs when she was younger. Her blond hair was still to her shoulders, and she had the pale but healthy looking skin of her Nordic ancestors. She could have passed for ten years younger, and lots of men gave her more than a first glance. So why would Thad choose such a mistress over her? The divorce would be amicable, Hope thought bitterly. Like so many of her divorced friends, she would remain on speaking terms with Thad. They would see each other occasionally at parties, but they would smile and greet each other as strangers. It was not what she wanted. What she wanted was her husband. And if being totally wicked was the way to keep him ... well she was wiling. These are stories of women like Hope who are willing to break any taboo to quench their desires.

The second holiday love story in New York Times bestselling author Richard Paul Evans’s Mistletoe Collection. At thirty-two Kimberly Rossi, a finance officer at a Lexus car dealership, has had her heart broken more times than she wants to remember. With two failed engagements, a divorce and again alone with no prospects, she hardly seems the type to dream of being a published romance author. Dreading another holiday alone, she signs up for The Mistletoe Retreat, a nine-day writing retreat in Burlington, VT. Deep inside Kimberly knows she’s at a junction in her life and it’s time to either fulfill her dream or let it go. The other reason she decides to attend the conference is because famed romance writer, H.T. Cowell, once the best selling romance writer in America, and the author whose books instilled in her the desire to be a writer, will be speaking in public for the first time in more than a decade. In one of her breakout sessions Kimberly meets another aspiring writer, and one of the few men at the conference, Zeke, an intelligent man with a wry wit who seems as interested in Kimberly as he is in the retreat. As Kimberly begins to open up to him about her stories and dreams, she inadvertently reveals her own troubled past. As Zeke helps her to discover why her books fail to live up to their potential she begins to wonder if he’s really talking more about her life than her literature. But as she grows closer to him, she realizes that Zeke has his own darkness, a past he’s unwilling to talk about. The theme of The Mistletoe Inn is that like literature, relationships must be lived with passion and vulnerability to succeed.

By Kindle Customer In this predictable but sweet romance, Kim goes to a romance writer's conference to meet her idol and meets an intriguing man, Zeke. Their whirlwind romance touched many different emotions. I have to say, however, that my favorite part of the novel was how tenderly RPE touched on suicide and depression. As the daughter of someone who died by suicide, I have often felt the same feelings as the characters in this novel. Thank you for addressing issues that many won't.

What a treat this book was... although I had a pretty good idea where this story was going, it was still a great trip getting there. Kim has not had a lot of luck in the romance department, yet her dream is to get her romance book published. So she attends a romance writer's conference where she makes two new friends... Samantha and Zeke... one will entertain her and make her laugh and the other will cause her to look at herself and how she views her life in a totally different way. Kim also has a very close and loving relationship with her father who is key in helping Kim take those difficult steps towards the healing she so desperately needs. The ending pulls out every emotion and the writing is not only riveting but heartfelt and beautifully done. The characters are well drawn and the revelations that Kim experiences, both from her time with Zeke at the writer's conference and the tender moments with her father, allow her to finally face her demons from the past. Zeke is a wonderfully drawn character and a man very easy to like, especially since he helps Kim to understand that she is indeed worthy of being loved. Also for those aspiring authors out there, since the story takes place primarily at a writer's conference, it will give you a peek at what it's like to try and get your book published!Engaging, moving, funny, tender, informative and with two great supporting characters in Kim's new friend Samantha and Kim's father Rob, this book is a treat from start to finish and it might just help you believe that sometimes good things really do happen to good people, especially at Christmastime. Five Stars for Richard Paul Evans and The Mistletoe Inn.

By LJ I wanted so badly to be able to give this book five stars because there are so many things I love about it and I'm a huge fans of Evans' work. Although it is an easy, quick read that I pushed through in a day, I felt like there was so much information about the writing conference in the book that it almost seemed to take over the story at times. It kind of seemed like a lot of fluff that you didn't need to know so many details about. I wanted to read more about the actual people and not every single detail that happens at a writers conference. He wrapped things up well though and I loved the ending of the book! Overall, I would definitely recommend it, I just didn't love it as much as I did The Mistletoe Promise and some of his other books.
