By RO G'ma Fall Girl is the ninth book in the Garden Girls Cozy Mystery Series and can be read as a stand-alone; however, I recommend reading the entire series because you see the development of the characters and their relationships. All the characters in Hope Callaghan’s Garden Girls Series are real life people whom one can easily identify with; the friendship Gloria and her “girls” share is amazing. Ms. Callaghan smoothly blends faith, friendship, mystery, and intrigue into her books. The characters, combined with Ms. Callaghan’s writing style and the twists and turns in this book, make it hard to put down. This is an ideal cozy mystery … it’s a fun, clean read, with no bad language, graphic violence, or adult situations. I found myself laughing out loud more than once and the reveal surprised me.Gloria Rutherford has a vague memory of telling her best friend, Lucy Carlson, she would “think” about going deer hunting with her. When Lucy shows up at Gloria’s door with hunting gear and rifles Gloria can’t disappoint her dear friend even though she doesn’t want to hunt or kill anything. When they return to Gloria’s house after their adventure, they learn that Bill Volk, Lucy’s ex-boyfriend, has been murdered and his body dumped across the street from Gloria’s house. Gloria and Lucy fear that someone is trying to frame them for Bill’s murder. The Garden Girls are determined to help prove their innocence.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I hava read each book in this series and have never been disappointed in the story of each. This book is no exception. The mystery threads itself page by page...never giving you a definite clue to the mystery until the final pages. You will really enjoy each book, with more in this series coming. Each of her other fine Series display her excellent writing of mysteries. Finally, the Author is a Christian writer, allowing for a clean worded reading experience.

Who am I talking about? None other than CoCo Amoure! Remember her name, feel it all through the marrow in your bones because that is where her writing takes you to. Deep down in the recesses of your soul. This type of creativity will remain within the annals of your mind for an inestimable length of time. Readers will sit wondering just how did she look into your personal closets and come up with your story, that is the inimitable talent which is displayed in all of the books written by this unsurpassable young author. Her supreme talent lies in putting forth life like portraits of the reality of our lives. She wrings every bit of our actual reality and creates a story that lets us see it through a dramatically well told fictional rendition.If we have not lived within this particular storyline, then we know someone who has. In this latest read we are introduced to Delaney, a child caught up in the madness of the dysfunctional marital problems created by the unity of her parental birth donors. This dysfunction is embedded with the character development of Delaney and impedes her ability to recognize true love from false lust. CoCo has slammed us in the midst of this drama and does not give us an exit out of the maze until she infiltrates your emotions and makes you delve into the plot she is weaving in such a way that the dynamics of the fictional situation becomes your reality, for a time. Today they were playing against the Oakland Raiders and I chose to continue reading this book rather then watch the game. Now that's how you know this writer is the truth and not to be missed!WHAT A TALENT, WHAT A TALENT, WHAT A TALENT!!We readers are first caught up within this storyline by the exciting synopsis CoCo uses to draw you into this fictional realistic tale. Once you take that tasteful bait you become entrapped until the words to be continued are typed upon your sensory glands; and wow does she put an electrical overload on those emotions!! The overload begins as we see through Delaney's eyes, the beginning of the consequences a child's upbringing intruding upon her adulthood. A philandering father's behavior and a mother's mentally abusive reaction to such behavior creates an adult with relationship problems - this is Delaney's story.Delaney is caught within the matrix of a love triangle; the same type of matrix her mother was once involved in with her father and her uncle. This book is about the choices that both these women made and the effect it had on their personal love lives. The difference being the saying "mother like daughter", does not come into being the common denominator in this triangular equation! Delaney comes strong with hers! You will just have to download your own personal copy to see just how Delaney manages her very own love story triangle. CoCo has woven a most intriguing story to keep you fulfilled and entertained and looking forward to the next book in this mind blowing series. I am salivating for that time to arrive. My mind is still immersed within the confines of that brilliance. Yes siree! Ms. Coco Amoure's star is lightening up the sky. There are no limits to this young lady's ability to keep you firmly entrenched and immersed within the confines of her astrometrically growing fan base! I guarantee you will find this book to be amongst the very best that 2015 has produced, thus far!

Give Me The Reason was a well written dramatic love story. I love how the author was so descriptive. It made me feel like I was apart of each scene. I love Coco Amoure's penstyle and can't wait for part 2. Hopefully things will turn out for the best for Delaney...

Again, not bad, despite reservations By JPS First posted on Amazon.co.uk on 8 November 2015This is a quite good follow-up of Vulkan Lives (the author’s previous volume in the Horus Heresy) and of the Unremembered Empire (from Dan Abnett). A couple of little warnings before starting this review: it is not absolutely necessary to have read both mentioned volumes before this one, but it certainly helps. In fact, it also helps to have read the whole series, to some extent, and in particular the five first volumes. Also, and although I try to both avoid them and limit them, the following review may contain a few “spoilers”.This rather long volume (slightly less than 500 pages) focused upon the Odyssey of a handful of Salamanders, survivors of the Isstvan V’ “Odyssey as they bring back the corpse of Vulkan, their Primarch, back to Nocturne (hence the book’s title), their home planet, across the war-torn space of the Imperium and across the storm-ridden warp in particular (hence the book’s subtitle). They are driven by their belief, or rather by their need to believe that “Vulkan lives”, despite all evidence pointing to the contrary. Taking point in this belief is Artellus Numeon, once captain of the Pyre Guard and Vulkan’s Equerry, who is freed from captivity and torture by the Ultramarines, rallies the survivors of his Legion and leads the Odyssey with the grudging acceptance of Guilliman and the two other Primarchs who have joined forces with him to found – a bit prematurely - the “Second Empire”.The plot and events that take place during the Odyssey are somewhat unoriginal. They are however some nice touches, such as a murderous warp version of Ulysses’ sirens (I will say no more about them). Another nice touch is that, at one point in the voyage, the huge but largely empty battle-barge of the Salamanders is forced to drop out of the warp near the Segmentum Solar, gets to hear the call by Rogal Dorn for all Legions to rally to the defence of Terra and therefore learns that Terra has not yet fallen. The Salamanders are therefore forced to make a rather hard choice between obeying the summons and continuing on their journey. This, at least, is how the author portrays it.There is also the usual number of “desperate” void battles, boarding actions and even a battle on the ground, all of which are quite griping and well told, but not terribly original. You also get “treated” to the usual reminiscences about the treason, trauma, defeat and massacre of Isstvan V (here we go again!).Perhaps the main theme of the whole book is the Salamanders’ own agonies, and how they are torn and divided between hope/belief against all odds that “Vulkan lives”, quite literally, of course, and that bringing him back to Nocturne will revive him, and mourning and despair, which leads the Legionaries to bring him back to be buried at home. Here again, the theme and idea is rather good, but the execution is borderline stereotype, at times. It did not elicit much empathy – allegedly one of the main characteristics of the Salamanders - as far as I was concerned and, at times, I could not help getting a bit impatient with all the moaning and whining (that is how it felt like, to me) coming from the fearsome Space Marines.A related point is the author’s tendency to exaggerate and “overdo it”, at times, to make his history more dramatic, although this might also be editorial glitches. So, at one point during a particularly tense boarding action, Artellus’ ammunition is low, with the author telling us he has only half a clip left in his bolter. A few lines further, and without a single additional shot having been fired, you learn that in fact he only has three rounds left and, of course, hardly any other weapon.More importantly, when describing and exploring the moral crisis of the Salamanders, the author comes up with the dubious claim that their Legion was the one which suffered the highest casualties on Isstvan V. I would rather have put my money on the Iron Hands, although the Black Guard was also decimated! Even more controversially, the Salamanders are presented as worse off than the two others because they do not know what happened to their Primarch, whereas Corax of the Black Guard escaped, although badly wounded, and Manus Ferrus of the Iron Hands was decapitated. What the author may have wanted to convey is the uncertainty as to whether their Primarch is still alive or not was, for the Salamanders, perhaps even worse to bear than the certainty that he had been killed. Unfortunately, this is not exactly how his point comes across.Another interesting feature which could have been better used is that of a somewhat schizophrenic sharpshooter “Knight Errant” who, by and large, gets to help the Salamanders quite a lot. The problem here is that the author never entirely tells how this character made it onto the battle barge, yet alone how he acquired his somewhat mixed personality. IT would also have let readers know what the Sigillite was up to...Finally, while quite entertaining despite all my gripes and rants, this book is yet another “side-show”, even if one that is interesting at times. The point here is that, once again, the reader is no closer to the invasion of Terra and the assault of the Imperial Palace. Also, it would be nice if, in some not too distant future and before the invasion of Terra begins, a Black Library author would be kind enough to write a book on Book 17 of the series (the Outcast Dead) and focus on the preparations for the defence of System Solar. This is book 32 and, for the last fifteen instalments, authors have been spinning out the outcomes of Isstvan V but almost exclusively from the perspective of the Loyalist or the Rebel Legions.Three stars.

By Rhymoceros This is the second book within the Horus Heresy of a planned trilogy, according to the Afterword by the author Nick Kyme, revolving around Vulkan and the Salamanders. I didn't know this was a planned treatment for this chapter, especially within the Horus Heresy, so it's a very nice surprise. I was planning on giving up on the Heresy series because the plots were all over the place and so many things didn't match up, but now I'm hoping the next book by Mr. Kyme will be available through the Black Library as a signed and numbered copy. The Unremembered Empire sort of messed it up for me, but this book brought it back together, the characters were very well rounded and the ending did not disappoint.No spoilers here, pick it up, it's worth it. This is one of the few times I would say the cover art did not the the book justice. I would have loved to have had Salamanders and Deathguard on the cover, Mortarion's own were a satisfying presence. Makes me want to read more about Barbarus. How 'bout it Nick? Will you get started on a Mortarion Trilogy?The third book should be the most criticized with very high expectations, I'm hoping it will open the door for future novels for the Salamanders, maybe even now with the Black Legion series coming out. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. By Marcus If I had a penny for every time the words Vulkan Lives appears in this book...The story is not bad. It is a little slow and meandering at times, but that's part of the Odyssey of these Salamanders trying to get home.There's a few plot holes, but the most glaring for me was how a Legion home world was essentially left with no defenses. Legion warships appear in-system, engage in battle, land on the planet, and not so much as a single hail, or even a hint of orbital defense. I suppose by the time you reach that point in the book, you just want the damn plot to move along so let's just hurry up already...The overall storyline was decent. It advances the overall Horus Heresy storyline, but the devil is in the details.

They wanted a honest review...so here we go!Wow! This book blew me out of the water. I started reading and reading and kept thinking this man is horrible. What a "insert a explicative ". A stalker, a manipulator, everything is all about Matthew. I wanted to reach into my kindle and female dog slap him. With that said I thought if a character in a read can bring out feelings like that, this is going to be a good read. I have to say, Matthew did not let me down.Kayla on the other hand....so naïve. So full of dreams for a new future in her new job. So not ready for the dog eat dog of Washington DC. I kind of felt sorry for her. She didn't realize the man she just had sex with was going to "take her world by Storm".A must read. I give it a 5.0 plus because it kept me tapping the kindle page after page. The story was fresh and new. Characters were loveable and hateable (is that a word?). I was thoroughly entertained. I have read all of Ms. Brooks books and this one is by far the best. Grab this book. Read it. Enjoy it as much as I.Okay. The bad part. This is a series which means I have to WAIT to see what happens next. So, as I type this review I am hoping Sarah J. Brooks is doing the same with part 2.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Political science ????? NOT!! By Margari Not into the political aspect of the book. The sexual encounters are steamy but need more build up. There were also some errors where she referred Kayla was wearing a skirt and then referenced pants. I'm very detail oriented and noticed it right away. I need to read more of the story but honestly after reading this first part it a doesn't leave much anticipation for wanting to read the following book.

This story starts out with political and Aid I'm not into to politics at all but I am now!! Mathew Storm, knows what its like to be in the spot light of camera and bad press. So when he see Michaela in a bar he knows he needs to stay away. "Kayla" who normally don't party cause she has her head in books getting top grades has to much to drink!! Who don't celebrate with friends when you land you dream job!! The chemistry between these two is ready to explode. Lovin this new series so far and can't wait to read the next.
