Good story, but Needs a good text editor By Linda LL The story line is good, a tried and true coming of age story where the boy and girl are thrown together after a catastrophic event and they grow into maturity. overall, a good, not exceptional story.The main reason for the lower rating is the too many to count (I know because I tried to count) grammatical errors like missed words, use of incorrect words (like windless for windlass, there for their, etc ad infinitum), most of which could have been corrected with a good read through by an editor. Rushed to publication? Too much reliance on spell check, but not grammar check? So, you get what you pay for.

At times the author used modern vernacular that seemed totally out of placed with the setting of the book. I had a hard time picturing a knight saying "What else can this baby do?,when talking about his enchanted sword. It sounded like more a modern teenager talking about their new car.It's a good sword and fantasy book other than that.

Very Good, but Could Have Been Exceptional Regency Romance By Blue Falcon This review is of “The Skilled Seduction”, book #3 in the “Scandalous Secrets” series by Tracy Goodwin, and the third book I’m reviewing for The Carolyn Awards.The Story: The book begins with the heroine, Lady Victoria Montgomery, putting into motion a plan to win the love of Tristan MacAlistair, a barrister, her brother-in-law-Victoria’s brother Sebastian is married to Tristan’s twin sister, Gwen-and the hero of the book. Victoria’s plan: to make Tristan want her.The plan somewhat works: Victoria and Tristan make love, but he tells Victoria he will never love her. Tristan then tries to coerce Victoria into marriage, his effort at “doing the right thing”; when that fails, he kidnaps her. Despite this, Victoria falls further in love with Tristan. Later, secrets he is keeping come to light, and a family tragedy causes the couple to separate. However, the love between Victoria and Tristan is strong enough to help them through their pain, to find each other again and have their Happily Ever After.Upside: Rarely do I read books where both the hero and heroine are so emotional. It’s great to see a male character like Tristan willing and open with his emotions. Both Tristan and Victoria are fully developed characters and there is room for more stories in the series.Downside: What keeps “The Skilled Seduction” from being a 5 star book for me is the fact that Tristan kidnaps Victoria, a storyline I found completely unnecessary and changed the tone of the book. It really brought the book down for me, although Ms. Goodwin redeemed herself in the latter stages.Sex: A few scenes, which are more focused on the emotional aspect of lovemaking rather than being overly descriptive.Violence: After Sebastian finds out that Victoria and Tristan have become lovers, Sebastian and Tristan engage in a fistfight; neither man is seriously injured, although blood is shed by both.Bottom Line: Victoria’s unnecessary kidnapping knocks the book down a peg, but “The Skilled Seduction” is still a very good Regency romance.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful ending to a great series By a griffith Oh I forgot... come on 2016 so I can read #4. The first 3 were great and I found it was hard to put them down though this series was the first I'd read from Tracy I look forward to reading many more.

I really liked Victoria she was strong, smart, beautiful and wasn't going to take any crap.I liked Tristan too he was also smart and handsome. The two had some great chemistry together. There is a couple nicely written sex scenes.The story line and plot were good. I enjoyed it very much. There was a lot of dialogue through out the entire book.As for the narration I really like Susan Duerden, she is a great historical romance narrator. All the men sound like men. She reads with emotion as called for ie whisper, yell, cough, etc. She has a very nice reading voice too. Everyone get their own distinct voice. Great narrator.This was a free read on my KU subscription and 1.99 for the audible so totally a great deal.

Ethan has all this power given to him and he can't seem to develop it into a stronger character. Every time any difficult thing happens he has to give himself to Martok, he is weak to the point it is sad. I guess I liked Ethan and his development up until this book, then the way it ended left me irritated and not wanting to read any more books if this is the route the author is going.... sigh.

NEW BEGINNINGS By Redrabbitt Another wonderful addition to the town of Lewiston, Idaho when the town Ferrier, William, decides to find him a mail order bride like many of his friends have done. He has turned his life around and trusting the Lord now. Widow Margaret of New York, was the wife of a pastor, she knows she needs a change and answers the ad as a mail order bride and after correspondence makes the trip. She has firm Christian beliefs and is not willing to back down upon them. William and Margaret have a nice life and she even starts a ladies fellowship group. What happens when an unexpected visitor shows up on Christmas eve and their random acts of kindness shatter their happy world? False accusations, arrest and imprisonment with a trial looming near places their happiness in serious jeopardy. Margaret learns through the trials that her neighbors are her friends and are not there to cast judgment. Can justice be found before it is too late? Clean historical Mail order bride romance of forgiveness By Joyful A clean historical Mail order bride romance, book 7 and the final in the series Brides For All Seasons, is a great read. Although the Margaret was married and widowed, she loved her husband but had not fallen in love until she met William. William had been an alcoholic and had not changed his life until he was past the age of 50. Once he changed his lifestyle, he saved his money, bought land, and built a house. He then, having send his friends become happy with Mail order brides, decided he wanted to get married. Will he and Margaret find happiness? Why does Nate show up to visit? How does Nate impact their life? God honors those who trust Him and wait on Him, and forgives those who do them wrong. I was given a copy for an honest review. I recommend this author and her books.

Although I have not seen a bio on the author, some of the words used seemed more appropriate to a Brit than a American westerner; gaol for jail, distance in meters, a cabin in the woods having a front courtyard with cobblestones, etc. This did seem to take some authenticity from the story, but I dismissed it and still enjoyed the book. It was a good example of how a person can turn their lives around when they seek God.

Great Continuation of the Series By Pi A nice addition to the series, my only complaint is how there wasn't much romantic development between the characters. I loved the new races that were introduced, and how some questions are finally answered. The technological advancements and discoveries were great. I am looking forward to the next book.

By Chris Hammond It has been months since Captain Maddox and his ship and crew defeated the destroyer. Captain Maddox is on an intelligence gathering mission to determine who has been following him around when he is drugged and kidnapped. He manages to get himself free of the kidnappers but finds there are some very advanced androids have been brought into play on Earth but the extent of the androids on Earth is unknown, as well as how they got there.Captain Maddox is contacted by a hologram of Professor Ludendorff who insists that he return to the Xerxes System to free him from his captivity, which turns out to be something that Star Watch does not want him doing. He ends up leaving in Victory against the wishes of his superiors. And after reaching the Xerxes system, Victory is transported 1000 light years from Earth to find a dyson sphere that circles a star out to 1 AU, and that he was not contacted by the professor but the last remaining builder and the the Swarm still exists. And Captain Maddox and his crew must survive and find a way home, over 1000 light years away, if they are to warn anyone.

Book four brings together much of the story arc from the first three books, while also setting the stage for a new one. Looking forward to the next installment and more from Captain Maddox and the crew.
